  1. It looks like we may not have a show next week. The Moonlight Car Show is coming up though! It's probably the biggest one for around here. In the past they have gotten more than 1000 cars and an estimated 80,000 spectators! They close all of downtown Wichita for it and it becomes one huge street party. This will be our first year at it and we can't wait!
  2. This weeks show was a great one! It was the annual all MOPAR show put on by the Wichita area MOPAR club. They got 65 cars which was a nice number for a small show, especially when you consider that the average show around here only gets a few MOPARs. We were still unique in that there was only 2 50's MOPARs there. Us and a 1958 Desoto (which was my pick for the best car there). A lot of good looking muscle cars and a few 30's. One of the highlights was the Turbo Interceptor from the movie "The Wraith". Very cool car and I'm not ashamed to say one of my favorite films! Here's the link to all the photos as well as a couple non-MOPARs we saw that caught our eye. http://s47.photobucket.com/albums/f168/n001pa/2011%20All%20MOPAR%20Show%20Wichita%20Ks/
  3. I didn't have a car show last weekend because I was flat broke and couldn't afford it. This weekend was one of the big ones for around here. The Lake Afton show normally gets hundreds of cars but the turn-out was a bit low this year. I think it was because of some bad weather the last few days but it turned out to be a great day and we had a lot of fun. Here's the link to the pics. http://s47.photobucket.com/albums/f168/n001pa/2011%20Lake%20Afton%20Car%20Show/ As a sheetmetal mechanic and biker I found this one to be very impressive! I know it's not a MOPAR but this was probably the real stand-out of the show! Next week is a MOPAR show so hopefully I will be posting up some great MOPARs.
  4. I used latex paint on my bike a few years ago and was very happy with it. The most important thing to remember when painting whitewalls is to clean the sidewall very thoroughly with with alcohol. If you scuff it up good and make sure it's very clean then it should stick. That said, mine did yellow a bit after only about a month and I never tried to get them back to a bright white because I liked the aged look that they got. There are some out there trying white rubberized roof coating for houses with very promising results. It's very flexible so you don't have to worry about cracking and they say that it is easy to clean. I have not tried it yet but I am thinking about it. You could also grind some whitewalls. I had some on a rat rod project and they looked great but very messy to make. Cut Whites Painted Whites-Fresh After a couple years
  5. Thanks for the pics. Looks like a great show!
  6. Welcome to the forum and congrats on what looks to be a great find! I don't believe there would be any holes for mounting a visor on a two piece windshield, it all clamped on. I actually have my eye on a 54 Savoy right now that has been sitting for sale in a ladies front yard for more than 20 years . I talked to the husband but he wasn't sure how much she wanted for it but, after 20 years, she ought to be a motivated seller. Keep us posted on your progress. Later, Carl
  7. I got one a few years back for model plane work and was not at all impressed. Picked up a $10 radio shack iron and am still using it today. At half the price, I think I'll just stick to the old fashioned soldering iron.
  8. I just realized I forgot the link to the rest of the photos. Sorry about that. http://s47.photobucket.com/albums/f168/n001pa/2011%20Burns%20Ks%20Car%20Show/
  9. I grew up with Pintos. In fact we still have three of them. Two of them will be restored and the third is probably going to be a street legal IMSA style race car. I know it's strange but I love Pintos no matter what people say about them.
  10. Here's this weeks car show. It was in Burns Kansas and it was a cold and wet one. Still had a lot of fun though and will diffentately give it a second chance next year. This was a bigger car show. They had expected over 400 cars but, with the bad weather, they only got 238. Still brought in a lot of cars from outside the Wichita area which was nice. Check out this cool old Dodge. Very unique! Here's something you don't see at show's often. This was the highlight of the show! It started out as a 1971 Triumph but has a lot of custom work. Very cool old school bike!
  11. She's a big car but she does have a tendency to become invisible with the lovely ladies in the picture! The caps are from a 1961 Buick Invicta with some custom detailing. I have the original caps for the car but they are some of the most boring caps made IMO.
  12. Good one Gregg! They sure are cuties aren't they? I wonder which one's Charity though because I would probably have the best chance with her!
  13. I always wondered, if the world is supposed to end in 2012 because the Mayan calendar ends then, does that mean that Microsoft has predicted that the world will end in 3000?
  14. Not a lot of MOPARS again but there were a few nice ones. Mostly muscle cars though.
  15. Here's this weeks car show pics. This was the best car show yet! It was at the Old Cowtown Museum in Wichita Ks. I'm not sure how many cars they got but I would estimate around 300 or more, all squeezed into a western town! Alot of fun and certainly one we will attend again. Found some more girls from a local burlesque troop to pose with the old girl, the highlight of the show! Unfortunately something went wrong with my camera and I was not able to take as many photos as usual. My brother took a lot of photos with his phone. When he gets them downloaded, I will post them as well. As usual, here's the link to my photo's on Photobucket. http://s47.photobucket.com/albums/f168/n001pa/2011%20ARC%20Car%20Show%20at%20Old%20Cowtown/ Cory is working on creating a blog right now. In the future, I will post the photos there so they look a bit better. Oh, and we finally decided on a name for the old girl, Grace. What do you think?
