My 49 truck has the optional lower pickup box sides. Are these boxes rare? Was this an option? Does it ad value to my truck? Thanks

anyone know the difference between a 1949 half ton pickup axle and a 62? the rear axle on my 49 has 62 dodge written on it in chalk(i assume from a junk yard). i dont want to change axles if i dont have to. thanx.
