  1. I noticed the headliner and poor condition of the sun visor and what appears to be seat covers. Using and old and oor condition car for seat belt ad ?? Poor choices on the part of the casting people for sure! DJ
  2. Wonder if Pat P. is still alive and willing to be president?? ? DJ
  3. Pictures would really help for us to advise. TKs. DJ
  4. I was going to say after Snipers post- When did they start labeling fused as 6 volt or 12 volt. As Ken said- amps is amps (within limits like up to 250 volts, them them complicated electrons start to act strangely I guess- I am not a electrical engineer. ? DJ
  5. Wheels the same color as the fenders would make this contraption actually cute ? I do like it for some reason. ? Beautifully done Tim! ?? DJ Oh, does it drive fast enough to go some distances?
  6. If your state uses the gas fumes vacuum when adding gas set up as Calif. does, if it not working properly the pressure will back up and cause issues like this. Try putting a small amount of fuel in at another location? Just a thought. DJ
  7. You have a lot of rusty metal that needs to be replaced. Pans to keep it in the family and be used pretty much dictate the repairs, plus you live on the east coast with Snow! Watch the videos suggested and many more if you really are willing to do the work. I was going to say - and able- but most of us were not totally (or even slightly) able at the start of our projects! Some money for needed parts and perseverance is what IS required. Maybe also an understanding/ supportive ? wife if applicable. Others will surely disagree but I personally recommend getting a mig welder that uses gas and solid wire not flux coated wire without the gas . No need for anything bigger than a 140 A with a small rental bottle for the co2/argon mix ( cheaper than the 100% argon) . Much easier to learn to weld and will always give a much nicer finished product! Again, My opinion! I totally agree with the need to weld clean / shiny metal parts for lasting - good looking work. Again many many U-tube videos are available on the how to's. Car totally appears worth the trouble to do the needed repairs, I have seen others on this forum do MUCH more extensive rust panel replacement as beginners. I have done my share of floor/ rockers/ body mount supports on two Plymouths myself, but I was not a total rookie to mig welding nor expert either. Good luck! DJ
  8. Seems to me that there are way more than enough on line places to express your political opinions. This forum does not really need to be another, thank you! DJ
  9. Myself I feel that a ground should Never go on a bolt that goes into a water passage of the motor. Rust issues in areas that cannot be seen. Better imo is a bolt that just goes into the block, say the generator mount bolts/ starter mount bolts as has been done on some Mopars in the past. It seems that Mopar did (may have) used the water area bolts in the stock form from factory from others posts on this forum. I cannot dispute this at all. I just choose to make myself relax about the issue by using a non water connected bolts- it is just to easy to do so. ? DJ
  10. What is steer set up in this ? Affects what type of motors readily fit in the compartment. Appears as thought the center part of the steer tie rod linkages pass through the oil pan ?? DJ
  11. Did you plug the other Inlet port and also the 2nd. outlet port with pipe plugs.? I also hate to ask this but-- DJ
  12. Is the bolt on mounting flange at a different angle as it appears? If it is it is the wrong pump. If not and is at the same mount angle, then rotate the top as other have suggested. DJ
  13. Voltage checks while running are in order I think! Is all in order? DJ
  14. Back when horse and buggies ruled the road and cars had to pull to the side of the road when a horse came by. The E brakes did their job! Was that an emergency when the name was coined? DJ
  15. Kens idea is the best I believe. A replacement rear axle is always a possibility - Other ways for temporary brakes are a available and used for racing , also construction machinery etc. I searched " hydraulic holding brake " and quickly got one response. I did not spend any more time but you sure could. https://www.jegs.com/p/JEGS/JEGS-Hydraulic-Brake-Lock/1769685/10002/-1 DJ
  16. Well I'm busted. Been on the forum so long Tim is on to me. I guess I get bored sometimes and just try to have some fun here, too serious at times. Just old cars we spend too much money on. But can not seem to help ourselves! ? DJ
  17. Some red wheels would make it stand out, work well with body color! Add some orange-ish / red flames on the front sheet metal an go flyin". Will really show off the great work done on this car. If Plymouthy does not already despise me he will now! DJ
  18. I too have read that flywheels should be surface ground flat and not turned on a lathe to get an even cut without the hard spots that tend to grab and and make a clutch chatter. I do personally know the hard spots (Overheated areas) do indeed cause clutch chatter. True or not about lathe turned not curing the hard spots? I guess I would take or talk to the best engine builder in the area and get their approval as to how to best do it. I understand that lathes are much more common than a surface grinder is and maybe costs? Again not for sure here. DJ
  19. under the floorboard at driver feet is a bolt on access panel. DJ
  20. And the divorce lawyer said to the judge- - Whatever she wants_ judge- I agree! ? DJ
  21. Does the electric fuel pump have an auto reset circuit breaker in the power supply to the pump? Circuit overheated, opened breaker, reset after cool down? Also some electric fuel pumps just quit working after they get hot even after of years of previous use with no problems, work again after cool down time._ 2nd. possibility Just some ideas. DJ
  22. On Ebay - Mike- (the owner on now Moparpro, has had at least 4-5 different names on that site. You used to be able to see all the past names a EBay seller has used but last I checked that feature has been gone a while. Not because the buyers (us) did not like it, but I'm sure many sellers hated being followed over their sales tactics thru the years. DJ
  23. Did you check the manifolds for straightness of the mounting surface. Hard to believe but cast iron does warp when uneven force is used in the mount bolts. People over the years always try tightening the nuts some more even after the gasket has blown out causing the uneven mount pressure and warp the manifold as it heats in use. Since you will need to remove them for gasket repair , check Both manifolds for flat mounts. DJ
  24. Sounds like a vacuum leak at the intake/carb the most likely culprit? DJ
  25. Napa seems to carry the GL-1 again after listing it but labeled as not available for several years. Gallon bottles. My local store has it again, But now the prices is about twice it was before. Maybe try your local Napa store to order if not in their stock? Otherwise it was recently still available for big $$ here-- https://fifthaveinternetgarage.com/images/images/bkg.png DJ
