  1. Can you put it on a faster "shutter" speed? You know, the icon of a man in motion? I'm thinking you have a night setting going there, to give it so much wiggle. 48D
  2. I KNEW when y'all said "wooden box" Merle's famous "bucket seat" picture was just around the corner! lol 48D
  3. Charles, I would suggest any automatic transmission and tinted windows. :D48D
  4. In simple terms "performance" means how strong your Torque number is. HP is a number used to determin Torque. You can think of HP as the engine's ability to replenish the cylinders with gas. As the RPM's rise, the carb falls behind for the demand of gas. With the second carb you get extra help, or, better perfomance. The gearing is the Torque, but is really the finally answer of all the components front to back. If you think of a bulldozer, completely geared to knock a building over, can do it with 80-120 hp. Why, because the relationship of the rods to the crank are providing the leverage and low RPM's. In otherwords, if you compared a 450Hp 340 engine, to a 450Hp 440 engine in the same car on the 1/4 mile.....the 440 would win due to its torque advantage (leverage from the rod/crank relationship). Gas mileage has become a measurement of performance, but in most "performance circles" it's not. 48D
  5. This is to important....I need to buy you a camera. lol 48D
  6. Hey, you got friends here! We totally get that "first ride" feel from these awesome trucks. Can't wait til you start posting pictures of the break down/build up. I have to admit, progress pictures are my favorite posts. 48D
  7. This info is all new to me, like most I imagine. But if I was to break off a piece of my company, I would break off a piece I could sell for real money. Hence....Dodge. Can't wait to see how things turn out. 48D
  8. I have a full set of shackles I removed from a 48 truck frame (one of the "three sisters" for those who know me) PM me and we'll figure this thing out. 48D
  9. You're good man Charles, couldn't think of a better reason to make a change like that. I have parts for your coloum too, so let me know what you can't find, and maybe I have it. 48D
  10. Hey Graeme, Thanks for thinking of us here on the forum. I hope one of us can make the deal happen. The truck is definately appreicated for its history and beauty! I'm sorry for the lost your family has experienced, I'm sure John was a good man. Here's to a smooth transition and safe home for the 51 woody. 48D
  11. Looks great SBJ, what color system are you using? 48D
  12. Great story. I love the pictures of the truck in the barn. Good calendar stuff. 48D
  13. Holy cow! That's amazing..... Nice work Tim! 48D
  14. There's a limit???? Dang....someone tell Reg! He's my idol...I don't want anything to happen to him. Thanks for the heads up Don. Your #200 on the list of people who want my racecar when I kick it....I'll keep you posted. lol 48D
  15. Follow directions and they all work fine. I think it really comes down to "how long" and "how involved" you plan on being in your project. I do almost everything on my projects. I don't like upholstery, transmissions, or electrical. Doesn't mean I don't atempt to do them, just don't care for it. Its all really a great adventure, we all get there different ways. If you're in the business, you're like a guide, you go the way you know that works and is safe. if you're a "do it yourselfer", its a brand new trail. Try them all I say. Sand it, chemical it, srub it, soak it, sand blast it, media blast it, soda blast it, por-15 it, and when you find something that makes you smile....share it. lol. Its the Forum man, sometimes I try something and can't wait to complain or parise my efforts....whatever you do, it gonna be better than doing taxes or fixin the plumbing. 48D
  16. Here's a recent thread on the H.A.M.B. concerning the pros and cons of Soda Blasting. 48D http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=323470
  17. If you've completed the project that would work......but if you're adding as you go.....you get the idea. Can we add an option to arrange? 48D
  18. That's where I'm putting a lot of my photos now. What drives me a bit crazy is the sequence though. The last picture loaded is the first picture in the album. So if you're looking at a tear down or build up....you have to go to the last picture to start from the begining. 48D
  19. Nice pictures!! Look forward to seeing more as it comes along. Always inspiring to see a project in progress. lol. 48D
  20. Soda blasting doesn't harm glass, plastic trim, or chrome and is biodegradable. Eastwood makes a soda blaster but is a modified sand blaster and is better for small parts. 48D
  21. Hey Dontknowitall, I think youre talking about the Poly-X pads. I haven't found'em over here yet, but I'm sure they are somewhere. They seem pretty cool and would like to have some around. But for a job as big as DollyDodge's, I think a media blast or soda Blast would be a more complete job. They amount of time/material needed to strip and clean, it would seem to me, more cost effective to have a shop blast it. 48D
  22. Hey DollyDodge, I have an idea. Fly a chopper out to my place, and land on my race track. We can share a couple Pepsi, and I'll show you what it takes to do "rust/body/paint". MapQuest sez Clements to Bishop driving is 6 hours. Don't know how long flying would take, you'd have to tell me. lol. 48D
