  1. good luck, I was trying to find a replacement for my swiss cheesed one, but Dave got mine fixed up good. Making one would be easy except for the bead on the perimiter. I have mine off and could send you a trace.
  2. I had my engine professionally rebuilt, decked the head, with new pistons, valves, valve springs, etc. Magneflux found 4 small cracks in the block. I ended up at about $3200 for that. But I know you can get it done, probably just as well maybe not as pretty, for cheaper.
  3. bolts will be nice...just getting the cab on had me grining almost as much as running the frame around the neighborhood. Still gotta get a bunch of stuff back from plating to get the wiring started.
  4. fromm what I've HEARD they should be identical to the "older" version, just a casting number change.
  5. I'm putting one in from Roberts. Putting some lacquer on the back of the cardboard first. I figure if I pulled a 60 year old piece of cardboard out that was in decent shape after years of abuse, a new one in a pampered truck shoudl be ok.
  6. wow, sorry man, I've never understood the need to vandalize anything....
  7. nice truck! Could use a coat of paint Someone here has to be a patina hater!
  8. where did you make sure you had continuity? With everything disassmebled and painted, there is less of a chance of a good ground as compared to the original build when everything was assembled and painted after the bolt/washers were giving you that.
  9. I did get a ground strap from RIWire when I ordered all my wiring as an adder, but there wasn't one on the truck when I tore it down....just trying to keep it as close to original as possible. Sounds like a ground strap would be the less invasive to the painted protection I have on the metal parts
  10. true, somwhat. The drivers front doesn't have the rubber cushion under the cab mount on the frame. So I could clean the paint off the bottom of that and the inside floor of the cab where the big washer goes and I'd be grounding thru the mounting bolt.
  11. sooooo, my thought is to ground the cab thru the drivers front cab mount....does that sound logical?
  12. from what I've gathered in my investigation, the cardboard products (original style) work well if you put lacquer on the back of the cardboard prior to installation.
  13. I had gotten some shocks from Roberts and they would have worked fine, but they didn't fit my '51 B3D (too short). I'd say as long as they are the right size, they should work fine. Otherwise there is NAPA and trying to find the right ones thru them.
  14. I actually have one of those as well, but I'm gonna use it for a handle on a bed storage box for my truck
  15. be nice to that one Dave, I only have one good spare! And one REALLY beat up one that MIGHT be repairable....bu that one is for the future when I have time to work on it.
  16. just so you know that is a car hood ornament in the picture....I'm gonna have to wait to find the right bar before I mount my mirror...which might be a LOGN time if ever!
  17. dibs on anything you find in that list!
  18. no cops, no stops! as requested: and the tailgate's new home:
  19. well mine will never leave the family unless the proverbial male cow waste hits the rotation displacement device, so no "for profit" for me!
  20. what a steal! I'm over that in costs for my resto and not even close to being done!
  21. what kind of picture do you want? I can take more, it don't cost nuthin'!
  22. folk art tailgate is on the garage wall, not going anywhere.
