  1. I have the manual setup from Langdons on my 52 Plymouth with manual choke. It runs great straight out of the box. Some have said they had to change jets but mine runs great as provided. I was sorry to see he has discontinued the carb setup. If I remember reading right he is is now or is planning to retire or at least semi retire.
  2. I remember those days back in the early 80’s with my son. The Cub Scout troop he was in had a track but it was mostly junk so a few of the other leaders and myself built a new one. I wonder whatever happened to it as once he went into Boy Scouts I don’t remember ever seeing it again. Fun though.
  3. I grew up with Mopars in the 60’s and have had a 52 Plymouth for over 20 years and I am still learning things on a regular basis. Good luck with your car. Keep us updated as you get things the way you want them.
  4. A few years ago my 52 Plymouth slowly began running worse and worse.. I checked everywhere I could but it all pointed to a fuel problem. The pump worked well but the problem seemed to be a lack of fuel when accelerating . Idle and steady speeds seemed ok. The carb had had a major rebuild several years ago and a couple of minor tuneups recently. I finally decided the old carb was acting up. I bought a two barrel kit from Langdons(which is apparently no longer available) and the problem was solved. Car now runs excellently.
  5. It’s possible. Are you loosing fluid? Is the area wet? Do you see any holes or small cracks? If you haven’t filled it with liquid yet you could fill it with water and run it to see if it leaks. From the looks of the front of your car it most likely has a 0 lb. Pressure system or at most 3-5 psi. You could try to use a pressure tester at just a very few pounds to see if anything leaks.

  7. I bought a new valve for a 57 Chevy sedan. Withy only minor firewall adjustment it works fine. And 99.97% of people who look at it cannot tell. The only annoyance it that the controls work backwards on temp. If I ever got off my duff and routed the cable from the other side it would work correctly.
  8. I did the exact same thing on the interior bumpers on my 1980 Volare. The factory left it partially painted in primer and partly bare steel. The fact that it had never spent much time on the road kept it from being really bad. I did not paint over the POR-15 as it rarely gets bright direct sun. That was 10-12 years ago and no rust ever shown up.
  9. Seems to me a range of 7.2-7.6 is correct for a generator in good condition. Assuming the battery is ok. Make sure your grounds are good and your regulator is working correctly.
  10. In the late 70’s my Mother waited till she was functionally blind before having them done. She said she expected to die before she had to have them replaced.
  11. I agree with you both. Had mine removed in 2016 and the change was dramatic. The difference between the eye done first and the eye done second was astonishing. You never realize how much you loose in vision till it’s replaced. After fifty years of wearing thick glasses I now have for all intents and purposes 20/20 vision with only need reading glasses. Best medical procedure so far.
  12. Well this is not mine but belongs to friends of one of my daughters.
  13. It's certainly is either feast or famine for you guys.
  14. Here’s hoping everyone has a happy and automotively productive New Year,
  15. Happy Holidays to all. Our family day is today with food everywhere and presents piled to the ceiling. First time in quite a while that all the offspring and grandchildren are going to be in our house at the same time.
  16. We are up to a balmy -2 degrees F. That said, we missed the big snow that was promised. And by next week, 57 degrees F. Spring!
  17. You might take off the inspection plate and look to see if you have oil on the disc. The entire flywheel is between the rear main and the clutch so I would think that it is unlikely. How much free play do you have on the pedal. It sounds like you are just grossly maladjusted. Of course doing what you did by trying to burn the oil off will make that much worse. Do an inspection and double check your adjustment. The manual covers the procedure though if you changed it yourself you probably know how to do it.
  18. I remember replacing the rear mounts on my 52 Plymouth without removing anything but the mounts themselves. It was a battle. My neighbor helped me and it took several hours.
  19. Winter Wonderland, an oxymoron if I ever read one?
  20. You might contact Moores in S. Dakota: http://mooresautosalvage.com/
  21. Well what I did on my 52 four door was to make brackets for the rocker trim using the existing holes. The rocker clips on mine were in pretty bad shape and weren’t easily fixable. I think I used perforated banding material in four places and a screw in the front. This stuff: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Master-Flow-Perforated-Metal-Hanger-Straps-3-4HS/100396917
  22. My 52 has metal stems and moving does the hub cap no good whatsoever
  23. I too much prefer to drive my older cars(1952 and 1980). More enjoyable and comfortable plus I can still fix most things that go wrong(which is rarely). My 2016 Traverse rarely gets used in the warm weather.
