  1. It should be sticking down into the slipstream to create a vacuum that will draw the fumes out of the engine. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crankcase_ventilation_system
  2. I would expect you could make it work. Stranger swops have happened. Depends on how much work you want to do. Have you done a Google search to see if any information is out there http://www.slantsix.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5900 https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwicvPeW_arsAhUPeKwKHSeiC0gQFjAQegQIAhAC&url=https%3A%2F%2Fp15-d24.com%2Ftopic%2F43011-slant-six-swaps%2F&usg=AOvVaw12v2L7LHAVwWV3wyzU-ccs Just a couple I found.
  3. I put a mini starter in my 80 Volare when the local shop said that they cannot fix it as parts are no longer available. Works great.
  4. Can you post a vid or recording of the noise? Really hard to get an idea Without hearing it.
  5. Along the lines of Sniper’s thought if the crank was from a late 50’s car that had a Powerflite(?) trans would the crank hole be finished all the way? I ask because a guy I know who has owned a 57 Jeep since High School(50 years) found out that while rebuilding the engine a couple of years ago that Willys did not finish machining the end of the crank where the flywheel bolts on. They and he 50 years later had to grind each one of the flywheel mounting bolts to match It’s place on the crank. I know it sounds crazy but he showed me what he had to do.
  6. I wondered who bought that one. Thanks for saving me from having to try to convince my wife I need just one more old Mopar. Looks' like a good bargain. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do mine. Welcome to the site.
  7. Next question. If you are going to buy new wheels, why not dismount the spare you have now and measure it?
  8. Coker says 4.5 to 6 inches. 5.0 or 5.5 is what I remember. Calling Coker might give a more exact response
  9. Most likely photo too big. You can easily shrink it and resave the new size for posting.
  10. Well I used a Langdons two barrel adaptor on my 52 and the difference in drivability is very dramatic. A little bit of adjustment needed but well worth it
  11. From personal experience I can testify that rapping the starter only works a limited number of times. The question is how limited is the number?
  12. And have the engine warmed up before doing the compression test.
  13. The top two pics wouldn't bother me but the bottom two don't look good. As Rich said it certainly looks like something broke off considering the unevenness of the short piece. I am such a Chickens++t on brakes I would most likely just spend the money and get a new set. PIA I know but would not feel comfortable with those. Or have new linings installed on both sets.
  14. Henry Ford was a man of his time. Unfortunately his time passed and he did not.
  15. I am always amazed when I am reading the News how few people from the entertainment industry I recognize. I either have to look them up(if I care enough) or ask my wife(who knows almost all of them)
  16. Did it have a manual choke at some point? I am looking at the manifold and it looks different from mine. Stock 217 correct?
  17. I haven't seen 50 commercials in the last 5 years. DVR what little I watch and blow right through them.
  18. If you get a minute making sure the vents are clear can’t hurt could have been a small piece if rust or? Glad to hear is seems fixed
  19. If you are getting a lot of fuel you could have flooded it. Is there spark? The Sission choke is electrically activated when the starter is engaged by a lead from the main starter terminal. After the engine starts and the starter is no longer engages it reverts to a bi-metal expansion type. You can check choke operation by either using a remote start or getting someone else to crank the motor while you watch with the air cleaner off to see if it closes. If there is no movement check to see if the linkages are hooked up. A search here will give you a lot of information. If that is working check all the usual suspects, spark plugs, rotor, cap, points(especially adjustment). The wire to the points inside the distributor has a nasty tendency to break and loose contact. Ethanol is usable. It just tends to make vapor lock easier on hot days and of course also eat untreated rubber parts of the fuel system.
  20. Depends on how much you want to use it. They used to be pretty pricy Back when that was the only way and you need or wanted a lot yeah. Now with the internet being available right now and good items selling quickly it priced right, for me no. As far a Chevies, they are Chevies. If quality was a factor, Mopars would be on top. Like everything else, look at selling prices , not asking prices.
  21. When I read the title I thought you wanted me
