  1. Looks like fun ! I see you have your best friend and drink with you. Here's a photo of my camping buddy. She's quite accomplished at nose art. Very prolific....at least 52 works per year.

  3. I'm doing a complete brake job on the 40 Plymouth and was surprised to see that the right rear shoes are installed with the short shoe forward and on the other three sides the short shoe is in the rear. Which is correct? Here's the right front.
  4. I would just spray the backs when done with urathane,laquer,or anything that would help make it water proof. I think the board I purchased from the upholsterer is already treated with something to keep out moisture. I just sprayed an insurance coat on before installing. I have sagged more in the last 12 years than the headliner has.
  5. Merle, Yes,you can trace around your original on to some butcher paper or anything really as long as it it large enough. I have the rear piece in my patterns but I elected to make it in 2 pieces in order to make the installation easier. Maybe with new window rubber a 1 piece panel would work ok. Make sure your original hasn't shrunk over the years before you use it for a pattern. I had to do some adjusting on my first patterns for a better fit with the ones I have now. Wow ! That's rare to find that piece you have in tact !
  6. Dave, I'm no guru but here's how I made mine. I just went to my local upholstery shop and purchased board made for automobile door panels. Cut the stuff out using the patterns. Glued the vinyl on the board and wrapped it around the back side about 1 " and then took all the pieces back to the upholsterer and had him stitch around the edges to make sure it would stay in place. I had to take the headliner to a show repair place because the upholsterer's machine didn't have a deep enough throat to sew the piece above the door to the horizontal headliner piece. I have had this interior in this truck for ~10 years and removed it from the "Gray Mare" before I sold her for another couple of years. I made the door panels longer for sound deadening and had the upholsterer sew some piping around them just for kicks. I wasn't able to tuck the material behind the corner window rubber on "Ole Yeller" because it was too stiff but it went in just fine in the Gray Mare because the rubber was still soft. I also covered a strip of sheet metal to to act as a bow to keep the headliner in place.
  7. A complete set usually bring more than one at a time unless they have road rash or are rusty.

  11. Hey that's it. I could put a helper spring on the low side. Even with the car up off the ground the axle is closer to the frame on the drivers side frame than the passenger side. This is on Pearl the 40 Plym I just got with low mileage. Maybe when I get the photos from the grandson of the original owners I'll find that Bob's theory is right.
  12. Soak the threads from behind over night and then with the little escutcheon protected by a rag grab it and turn with some small nosed plyers. Worked for me anyway. Don't have the special tool.
  13. I've used one before. It fits OK. Might be a good idea to coat the outside with some resin to make it hold up to moisture better.
  14. Yeah...the block sounds like the way to go for now and then maybe some new springs down the road. Anybody supplying new ones?
  15. I've got a couple of cars that list a little to the drivers side. Just wondered if air shocks would cure this or would the whole car just get higher off the ground at the same angle. Has anybody tried this?

  21. I like either style coupe or truck cab but do lean towards the coupe more too. If I had it that bright blue interior would have to go. Then I'd probably trade those rims in on some stock ones with button caps and beauty rings. But I'm probably a dork. I like the paint job and I'm glad the flat six is still there.   22. Great Story JT. I love this kind of stuff! It's what drew me to this hobby and keeps me excited about these old cars. I think I'll try finding the owner of my 52 1/2 ton. I saved a receipt I found in it's glove box with the name of a man in Sacramento. Maybe I'll get lucky there too.

  24. Is the trolling motor 12 or 24 volt? You might want to bring an extra battery or an extra bottle of Jose Quervo.
