  1. I have a 1951 377ci flathead Moly Block six truck engine in a parts truck that I have had for years. I have kept clean oil in it and run it 2 to 3 times a year to keep the core engine good. No oil color probems till one year. Had a hard time figuring out why all of a sudden the oil turned milky. No cracked block. Did not pull the head. I did pull the pan.,. Cleaned it free of oil and sludge... hours of watching to find coolant/ water leaking from the water pump down to the front of the block to the crank seal and wicking through into the timing gear seal and down into the pan. Took a week of careful watching to find this odd leak. A re-sealed water pump and crank seal and all is good 5 years later! Bob
  2. See post #14......A great answer! NLGI 00 and 0 grease will work just fine in old steering boxes. Flows like thick molasses. #2 and 3 are regular chassis type grease and will not flow around the worm and sector causing severe gear damage from lack of lubrication.
  3. There are 3 sizes of bumpers... Yes, You are correct on the HH bumper being bigger and longer than the B,C and D trucks. The 1/2 thru 1 tonners -B,C and D trucks have the smallest size bumper... The 1-1/2 thru 2-1/2 tonners- F,H, J and K trucks have the next up size bigger bumper.. And then the heavy series R,T,V and Y series trucks use the largest sized bumpers.
  4. The grilles are the same size and shape in all 1951-53 1/2 ton through 2-1/2 ton and even the largest dodge trucks the 2-3/4 through 4 tonners. Same goes for the B1 and B 2 series trucks. The guard does not protect the 5" extended fenders on the 1-1/2 thru 2-1/2 ton or the even wider 10" extended fenders on the heavy duty series trucks up to 4 ton. The guard is to kinda protect the main grille area only.
  5. Found these two truck items. .a NOS a 1951-3 NOS steering wheeel and a rear fender accessory step plate.... don't remember where.
  6. That MoPar guard was made for all the truck models. I have seen it on bigger trucks and in sales literature. It has two angled rods that go through the the front sheet metal to support it vertically. I don't think it will protect the grille much except maybe going through the jungle in heavy brush!
  7. It's a taller different radiator. But a blue tip wrench ect will probably make it work. Carb value IMO $40.00 max.
  8. The 1950 dodge W/ Gyro-Matic was the one that would have fit.
  9. LINE THE DOTS UP AND PUT IT BACK TOGETHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It will run this way.
  10. You get them too pretty underneath then you have to clean and wax the undersides!
  11. Well seeing that the gear looks like some cheap chinese cam gear with a bunch of excess cooling holes in it....maybe the 2 year old child that punched the dot possibly punched it on the back side of the gear! The back (wrong) side.
  12. ^^^^ Thats why I mentioned checking Valves closed using a feeler guage just to be sure.. Overlap could confuse some into thinking the valve are completely closed. A lot of talk about just setting up a couple gears and a chain .
  13. So you are saying both the intake and exhaust valves are completely 100% closed with feeler guage clearance on #1 cyl.@ TDC with the cam dot180 degrees opposite the crank gear dot?
  14. The cam gear will only bolt on one way by positioning it over the three bolt holes on the cam that line up.
  15. A good heat riser works in hot weather too. It's a good thing to have it beacause it deflects hot exhaust gases from getting up into the hot spot chamber on a fully warmed up engine..... especially in hot weather.
  16. Forget your old distributor rotor position and which cylinder was firing.... IE #1 or 6. Assemble the chain and gears/ didtributor as if you are doing a new engine rebuild.
  17. The press installer should have checked the parts before pressing the new pins ect. Would have saved you some time and effort. You finally got it done!
  18. I don't want to die twice... takes too long and two times the pain!
  19. Scared to death... yes that person is done dead! Who said scared half to death? Thats what an old grandma would say when she lost and recovered her frumpy little long haired Chihuahua!
  20. I should've been dead many years ago as I've lived in the Douglas Fir woods in the state of Washington all my life and cut thosands of feed of Doug Fir. We need to quit being scared by these fools scaring everyone to death.....literally. They should also post signs stating you might be scared to death by reading the following dangerous warning notice!!!
  21. The cam dot will always be 180 degrees off when the engine is at TDC firing #1 cyl. Set the cam and crank gears up aligning the dots directly across from each other. Then rotate the engine to TDC compression for #1 cylinder (both Intake and exhaust valves closed). Drop the distributor back in with the rotor firing #1 cylinder. Done. Bob
  22. It's time to go to the garage and get a nice big refreshing Coke. I'm not scared.
  23. How can you easily remove that heat riser package? The shaft and plate should still need to be there to keep the engine exhaust quiet and to block heat from getting up to the intake hot spot!
  24. An H320 or H300 is a series of Timken axle.
