  1. If the M/C is still under the floor, access without the access hole would certainly BE a trick!!!
  2. The 4 speed semi-automatic is the M-6 pictured above, which will not have a flywheel but a "fluid coupling" as shown above with the starter ring gear, which is similar in looks to a torque converter. In the case of the 1950 Dodge though, it does not multiply torque, hence the name fluid coupling. FLUID DRIVE is really just an advertising term to refer to the fluid coupling. The 50 Dodge May or may not have the M-6 depending on the model...the base model Dodge would have the regular 3 speed, and the "upscale" Dodge would have the M-6. If you roll back the front mat there is an inspection cover on the side of the trans hump, if you open that cover and you see the governor and solenoid, you have an M-6 semi-automatic 49 Chrysler shown but 50 Dodge floor access will be the same.
  3. You won't find a flywheel on a FD car. The fluid coupling replaces the flywheel. The fluid coupling unit has the starter ring gear on it The regular clutch bolts to the fluid coupling (M-6 SemiAutomatic shown) You'll also need the Fluid Drive bell housing:
  4. Rural small town tire shops see the old farm trucks alot and are not afraid of split rims. There are a few designs of split rims but only one design is the "widow maker" and even these are simple if you do it correctly and the rural guys still do them regularly. Call first and make a nice day drive of it
  5. Nope...set up a booth outside a Walmart and they will sell like nobody's business!!
  6. I had one like yours...it may well be near your house by now...wind took it away POS
  7. The thing I have always admired about Leno is the fact he has never sold a vehicle yet and he drives them all...heck he even let Dennis Gage drive a Duezzy. That's what cars are FOR...to DRIVE. The owner didn't want any money and the scholarship idea was very classy. This was a great feel-good story...thanks for sharing!!!
  8. Fred, check Princess Auto for U-bolts...I don't think they are in the catalog but I bought a pair about 3 yrs ago at the store here. They had a few different sizes. You have the correct plates they are on the wrong side and pointed front instead of sideways. Whoever installed those was into the sauce big time
  9. Not sure how anyone could deal with a terrible little shack like this. This guy needs some donations to upgrade this thing
  10. Ed, any heavy truck dealer should have those shocks in stock.
  11. That roof was cut off by the rescue crews. best wishes to the occupants for sure...didn't see any seatbelts
  12. Have a look at the Chrysler and remove some until you end up with whats on the Chrysler...you can always add one or two back if it's too soft or won't take a load without sagging too much. I bought gas there back when I visited you:)
  13. One reason NOT to pick on Tim....access to heavy weapons and aircraft...and a boat or two:eek:
  14. I'm trying to sell my Chrysler as a project car because of my health issues, our economy up here is just short of booming and my ad on Kijiji got over 4000 looks and not a single call on it. I need the cash and I need it out of the garage so parting it out isn't going to help much. It could take years to sell all the parts at a few bucks here and a few bucks there. Then there are the dozens of phone calls and emails from guys wondering if the grille will fit a Hyundai...(YES, it will!!! ). For me, I'll keep it and hope for the best. I'll just get rid of everything else. Charlie, I sincerely hope it all works out for you and your wife.
  15. 1949 Chrysler From just wire to this...done by Tom Fonte in Simi Valley CA
  16. If you have the "big" Dodge on the Chrysler/DeSoto chassis, the stock 51/52 Chrysler/DeSoto/Imperial box, pump and column are virtual bolt-in swaps. The column is slightly different around the gearshift area but your column parts should interchange to the "new" column to maintain the original shifter.
