  1. Fred, looks like now would be a good time to replace the shocks while you don't need to lay on the cold floor to do it... Also, paint or finish both sides of the plywood, otherwise the painted side will peel. By the way, when will you be finished, my buddy and his wife are moving! LOL!!
  2. I saw the car in person in 1976 in Reno at the Harrah Collection when it was still all together before Bill Harrah died. The car is huge...bigger than a 76 Caddy...longer and wider as they had a Coupe de Ville parked beside it to demonstrate how big it was.
  3. Your emoticons are too close to the link and I don't think GTK has enabled embedding on the forum
  4. If you have the engine apart now and do not replace them, Mr. Murphy will have you do it in a much less comfortable and much more expensive location in the very near future...that's just my experience.
  5. Randy, so sorry to hear of the diagnosis and for sure prayers are sent your way daily. Keep up the spirits and positive thoughts, and we will all do the same for you and send them to you and yours for a speedy recovery. Pat in Calgary
  6. Scarebird might be able to answer all your questions about their kit. That is part of customer service. If not...http://www.rustyhope.com/ LINK FIXED....thanks Don More on disc brake kits: http://www430.pair.com/p15d24/mopar_forum/showthread.php?t=5578&highlight=rusty+hope
  7. Nice grille bars, Fred. AFTER A WEEK OF 30 below, we have a Chinook rolling in, we are at freezing today (Sunday) and a week of above freezing and bright sunshine in store. Feels like summer!!
  8. POR15 claims to stop rust by sealing out oxygen, but even a tiny pinhole will negate that claim. Rhinoliner and most other spray on boxliners do a better job of sealing out oxygen.
  9. I was 9 and my Dad let me drive his new 63 IHC in the city on a stretch of road built to be part of an expressway that never was, so 4 lanes and no traffic...he wanted me to learn the shifting before I ever had to deal with traffic. My Mother was none to impressed but wasn't surprised either.
  10. It's my understanding that the Canadian long blocks can be safely bored to 251 cid plus 30 thou. The rebuilt industrial I had and sold had this done in '56 according to the rebuild tag. I have a 251 block and crank from the 49 and my nephew has 3 long blocks of unknown heritage in good condition if you run into a defect.
  11. My nephew Aaron in the finale of CWD http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oWKTUlEcv_8&feature=share Aaron was hit by a distracted driver in 2005 and was almost killed. He spent 5 weeks in a coma and it's been 5 yrs of rehab to get to this point. The link is part 1 of 3.
  12. Same here...no "box" appeared to enter any other info:(...I use Firefox...I will try IE.... IE works fine...done
  13. "Fitment" is my pet peeve. Along with "pleaded" as in he pleaded guilty. It was always "he pled guilty" in my day. Did you know it is frowned upon to teach the times tables??? My 17 yr old nephew has no idea about what they are...never heard of them but he is a straight "A" student!!
  14. If there is a big problem with my crank, I may go with the bigger 265 engine internals also generously offered to me by PatS. We’ll have to see. Chris, I have 251 internals not 265...the original stuff from my 49 Chrysler. The pistons and rings are NORS from 1958. New in the original wrappers.
  15. James Douglas did some in depth research: http://www430.pair.com/p15d24/mopar_forum/showthread.php?t=14203
  16. Tim...a belated Happy Birthday to you!!! A C-130 was lumbering along when a cocky F-16 flashed by. The jet jockey decided to show off.The fighter jock told the C-130 pilot, 'watch this!' and promptly went into a barrel roll followed by a steep climb.. He then finished with a sonic boom as he broke the sound barrier. The F-16 pilot asked the C-130 pilot what he thought of that? The C-130 pilot said, 'That was impressive, but watch this!' The C-130 droned along for about 5 minutes and then the C-130 pilot came back on and said: 'What did you think of that?' Puzzled, the F-16 pilot asked, 'What the heck did you do?' The C-130 pilot chuckled. 'I stood up, stretched my legs, walked to the back, took a leak, then got a cup of coffee and a cinnamon roll.' When you are young & foolish - speed & flash may seem a good thing! When you get older & smarter - comfort & dull is not such a bad thing! Us older folks understand this one, it's called S.O..S. Slower, Older and Smarter....
  17. The last picture shows NY plates on the Yellow Cab...looks like '53 tags
  18. I think you should head this off at the pass and tell them to put all the parts in a big box and get your car out of there asap!!! This will not get better it will degenerate faster than a speeding bullet. Don't let them even lay eyes on it again. Good Luck!!!
  19. From Shorpy's http://www.shorpy.com/node/11713?size=_original I spot 5 Mopars...fairly new...now, where's that time machine?
  20. Re: your rebuild tag pictured in original post... The Freeman Wilson company was a Mopar dealer...now called Tower Chrysler
  21. I can't tell a new car without reading the emblem or nametag...all look like eggs to me:( I can still tell the trucks though;)
  22. Looks good, Bob...tough way to upgrade, though. Looks like the weather is co-operating. Minus 16C here today, brisk north wind and some snow. (-16 degrees C = 3.2 degrees F)
  23. I believe it is tempered...if broken it will shatter into very small chunks. Same as the vent windows, the door glass and the rear window. Not much of an engineer if he can't tell just by a rap of a knuckle...very distinctive sound, very different from ordinary glass. Did the 'ENGINEER" just granulate from university? Breaking a similar one only proves the broken one was tempered. Says nothing of the one in question. If all the rest of the glass is marked it is a safe assumption on a 60 yr old vehicle that the corner glass would be as well, negating the need to destroy a good one for the same assumption.
  24. Put the car in a sea can and run the engine for an hour or two...should take care of spiders and anything else in the car. Where did the spiders come from...the boat or SF? Glad we don't get bugs and critters like that here...too damn cold!
