  3. '52 and newer 4 speeds are synchro'd in 3 and 4.
  4. Keep the 230, add some go-fast stuff to it. Later add the Cherokee rear axle and/or the 5 speed. I drove my '49 all over northern Ca with the 4 speed, 218 and a 3:23 rear axle out of a Charger. Drove it from Susanville to Bishop one year for Mules Days. ?
  5. Passenger side was NOS. Looked just like the one Wally posted.
  6. Hi John! GE 51 or 55 fit the gauge clusters or speedo's Ebay has both bulbs.

  10. Front axle out of a 2wd XJ would cure the brake problem and keep the 5 on 4.5 bolt pattern.
  11. My '49 had piping between the rear fenders and bed.
  12. Pre '48 fuel gauges need to have a load put on the two lower posts and power to the top. Vic has a piece of test equipment set up to adjust these fuel gauges. They aren't like the B series gauges.
  13. Must have been. I've done it, my father's done it and my grandfather that sold these trucks new has done it.
  14. I have a bunch of these fittings. The lines have been cut.
  15. I've done it. Your dad was pulling your leg.
  16. That's called the "speed cup shaft". Once broken there is no fix. You need/have to replace the speed cup.
  17. Continental fork lifts used them. $200 for a rebuildable core.
