  1. I was going to post the same Pic Greg did, I like those Rivieras with the grille that looks like it would eat you up. Second choice,,,,
  2. I had heat issues the first time to going to Detroit one summer, till I got the heat issue settled, next year it was just dandy. Flatheads forever,,,
  3. I have run two gaskets before, on a steel head. It seemed to work fine. These gaskets do have copper on one side and wrap around all the openings. I used two old gaskets, I refused to buy a new one . I heated both coppers sides with a map gas torch first.
  4. If your machinist put the engine back together for you I would not mess with it further. Dirt, even a little is a killer. If it is back together, then trust his work.
  5. Shoot, I just turned 60 last month, now what do I have to look forward too?
  6. SD is a beautiful state. And Devils Tower is all paved road. Don't forget Mt Rushmore if you can make it. I envy you guys, your doing what these cars were made for, seeing the country up close and personal. No better way. Edit, I re-read and see you are going to Mt Rushmore, cool beans. And those roads are nice compared to here in CA. Wish I was there.
  7. Glad to see you kept your head above all the water. We arent going anywhere,,, work on the car and post when you can.
  8. Both of them are there,, by themselves. But it looks like they have some work now.
  9. I think I copied Blueskies, his is a 50 I think. I did not beef it up, There are a few holes in the Pillar for the front seat in the upper location, and I fastened a bolt through one of them. They are as sturdy as the pillar itself is. On the rear, there is some beef about ear level as you are sitting in the back seat. I don't really like where they are positioned for the back and may move them. But in the six years I have owned the car only twice did someone sit in the back.
  10. Yes that is the place. He is down to him and another worker right now. But you are right, the work is very good.
  11. If you do go mention my name. When I first approached him he was short on work. When we finally agreed on pattern, material, etc., he had gotten busy again, and I think sorry he quoted me so low. But I told him I would pass his name around. Thanks all, took it for it's first spin to the Livermore show today. I sit a bit higher now. But I remember reading Plymouth wanted people to sit like they were in a chair at home, I am about there now. But I really enjoy it.
  12. Looks great John, keep up the good work.
  13. I saved my dollars and change. Found a upholstery guy who was looking for work due to this bad economy. Was able to strike a deal. Here are some before and after shots of the seats. I get the door panels next week. The hardest part, for me anyway was moving the 20 circuit 12 volt fuse block to the recessed box I made on the fender well. I originally put it under the front seat bottom years ago to hide, turns out it was really a inconvenient if I had to do any electrical work. So I spent the time waiting for the seats doing the rewiring all over. Anyway, I got the seats yesterday, I did the package tray myself. Big whoop, lol I hope the person I copied the pattern from does not mind, a form of flattery right? Old seat You can see the headliner is shot, or just plain dirty. I plan to attack that and a new carpet this winter. Anyway, I am pleased with the results. Vargas Upholstery in Sunnyvale, CA
  14. I had read the manual concerning this before, gets confusing when you talk about distributor versus crankshaft settings.
  15. Ok, thanks to you both for the info. I can look into it further today.
  16. Somehow I was led to believe this number should be in the low 30 with mechanical and vacuum advance combined. Although I never did read it anywhere. Where did you get this number of 18.5? I could be way off here.
  17. Thanks Tim, not in a big hurry to make them. I really thought the blue dot lenses were of glass. Right now I have them where the round reflector use to go. Fit right in quite nice, although I know not legal. I may look into a way to put a bulb behind them.
  18. I didn't mean to make too much fun of the winters around here in CA. I realize the people east and north have it pretty bad at time. I know of some who put their cars inside of special made bubbles. Those are some tuff winters. Not sure how long I would even last.
  19. My California Winterizing usually consists of making sure the garage door is closed. Maybe put the hood back on, not sure yet.
  20. Edit, if they are plastic, I can make my own. Sorry bout that.
  21. I would be interested if someone could locate a set of glass tail light lens with blue dots put in for P23 4 door sedan. I know it may be awkward to do this, but you can contact me via email.
  22. That's a lot of work, someone must really being Mopar to take on that beast. But it looks like a candidate for a Carson Top?
