  1. Congrats!!!! You persistance has paid off. Eric
  2. Doesn't the phenomenon need a thicker rubber surface for the burning to start which super heats the the tire and cause the pressure to rise so quickly? Would a thinner racing tire just pop before it could get so hot? Just thinking aloud here. Eric
  3. Fireball, Congrats. Finland did great. I can't say I watch much sports on TV .I don't care for the figure skating. I think if it was only women and they threw off some of if not all of the clothes , I might watch. Hockey is good but best seen Live. I do like WRC . Mikko Hirvonen is just one of many great Finnish drivers. Eric
  4. Rodney, The Langston was a good looking building. http://www.shorpy.com/node/2307 http://www.shorpy.com/node/5701 Here are a couple of Theatres from the DC area. The last one has a snow story, Geez I guess it has snowed there before!! Do a search at Shorpy's under "DC Theatre"
  5. Robin, thanks. I agree with Neil, the Bus was Cat's Sleep pants! The Kink's "Come Dancing" comes to mind. Looks like a good time was had by all. Eric
  6. Sorry to hear he died. He was sick a few years back with throat cancer? He said he collected Post Cards so I sent him an old one of the "Fattest Man In Nebraska". My condolences to his family. Eric
  7. Doesn't cause bad breath or make it any worse. "Put out your butts" has a different meaning. I'd walk a mile for a camel?? Good find, Eric
  8. Jon, great story and a great house. It looks almost like a "Dutch Colonial" but modified for the California sun. I have a scrap book from a local couple here who drove from Iowa to Miami to So. Cal and then North and back again. They weren't home more than a month or so when they took off for the East. Great pics and stories. Eric

  10. That was great!! The stairs seemed a bit goofy!! Great find. Eric
  11. Bye Norm, You have now left the driveway. You were full of good advice. I think also a devout Contrarian. Always was even tempered. You will be missed. Eric
  12. Tha Captain has hit the mark. It probably depends more on ethnicity than anything else. My Dad was Danish/Swedish/Irish. So Potatakor and lutefish and a lot of booze was always New Years Eve. Eric
  13. It took a lot of persuading by Edsel to get his Dad to improve the "T" up to the "A". The "A" really has some nice lines to it. It was already being outsold by Chevrolet but it was built better. There are something like 250,000 "T's" still registered!!! That says something. My brother and I had an "A" in the early 70s. It was fun. Eric
  14. Joe, R. Crumb is a real talent. I am assuming you have seen the documentry on him. There was a family with issues. Eric
  15. On the TV show "The Mentalist" there is a Citroen. They are pretty cool looking cars for their time. A lot of innovations. They might have the coolest steering wheel ever. Are they reliable? ?? They look light years ahead of a 55 chevy!! I don't think I would want to be looking for parts stateside but maybe there might be some support. Eric
  16. Ham, Potatoes, Hot Curry Fruit, Cherry Pie, home baked bread, That's about it. I do the cooking. I am not too far from Don. It has been snowing steadily for a few days now. I am going nowhere. Eric
  17. Don, that was a slow movie. The truth is better. Check out the book ,"Dillinger Slept Here" by Paul Maccabee. Plenty of snow here in Iowa. We need a new Dillinger to sell newspapers or maybe a boy in a balloon? Eric
  18. It was a nice article. It wasn't just about a car but about the owner too. A young owner at that. A good thing for the future. Eric
  19. Yes, Congrats. The big Chryslers are great. Eric
  20. Robert, thanks for the information. I was curious if they bolt on with the shocks. Maybe they were something quickly discarded by some shops when changing shocks. Rodney, In the latest "Turning Wheels" ( the stude club mag) they give price lists for the options on the 1936 cars. Eric
  21. On RobertKB's picture it shows some sort of metal shield in front of each shock. That is what it looks like to me. Eric
  22. I am interested in Don C.'s "shock guard" question. That is an interesting setup. Eric
  23. That seems like the way to go. It was a bear changing the valve cover. Something tells me I didn't do a very good job. I first painted the valve cover Chrysler blue which is Ok for post 67 or something like that but doesn't match the original turquoise at all. I was in a hurry and went with Pontiac Blue because It was as close as I could find and I can give the can to a friend who has some Pontiacs. Eric
  24. How do you know that the smoking oil is the old oil or that you have fixed the leak? I guess let it smoke until it A. stops because no new oil is leajing or B. stops because the engine ran out of oil. Hmm. It is a 413. I guess they are nortorious for valve gasket leaks due to closeness of the exhaust??? Good thing is that it doesn't smoke when it isn't running. Eric
  25. I think Pontiac was using the name "silver streak" because of the train. Almost same time period. Eric
