Well since this thread has gone to hell in an Easter basket:) . Norm, the dried blood you mentioned I have never heard of it. Does it work as a repellant for other animals such as cats or dogs? Thanks, Brendan.
The exchange rate is favourable for you guys in the U.S. now. There are still quite a few platers around, but it is also getting more expensive and plus shipping. Maybe we'll end up maintaining our old cars like they have been doing in Cuba, using whatever works.
If you decide to check a Plymouth for fit, measure the length of the shaft from the box up to the steering wheel. I think there is a difference in length in the Plymouths of 46-48 from Dodge D24, DeSoto, Chrysler, etc.I know you are looking for 50 but it would be good to check and let us know how you make out. Brendan.
Looks like a nice show, that 57 looks good, always liked them. When I bought my Dodge, it was a toss up between it and a 57 Fairlane 2dr post. Re the cats, Was it the smell? :D [quote= I thought I was going to pass out as I saw cats that have not been out in 8 or 9 months.
The most common area to look for Rust is in the inner rockers and the ends of the body support braces, or maybe you know this. I don't know where you are but where I live that car, at that price, would be a gift. Brendan.
Looks like you got a solid car there Andrew, then again you are in Arizona. Was your 60 VW in good shape? Besides the 48 Dodge I have a 73 Bug. Brendan.
Glad you mentioned Dex-Cool, Bob. We have a 2006 Pontiac that has it. So do you think I should change it out for another brand? Any reccomendations? Thanks, Brendan.
Fred, I have the Nason formula for the colour on my car if you need it. It crosses to a Volkswagen colour. It might be a bit light for what you have in mind. My car is faded a bit, it's been about 30 years since it has been painted.
Bob, you mentioned the carpet. If you are in a hardware or flooring store, take a look at carpeted hallway runner. You can get it in black, brown or gray, it is 3 ft. wide and is rubber backed and is not really expensive and fits the P15. On the transmission hump you can cut a slit to keep it from bunching. Also good to use in the trunk.
Are those nylon tires on your car(bias-ply)? Any amount of looseness in your front end will be compounded with the old tires. Have you checked the kingpins for looseness?
I put one piece windows in my bug about six or seven years ago and haven't had any problems such as leaks or rattles. As for a P15, is the door opening straight, on my D25 it looks like the vent window is on a different plane that the side glass.
All I could say when I saw the pics was "WOW'! You have quite a collection and a fine shop. I guess "Mr. Bones" is keeping an eye on things for you. Thanks, Brendan.
Sounds to me like it's doing what it's supposed to do. As Steve said, it does not charge while idling. If you step it up with the throttle, and run it awhile it should even out. Also, don't leave the ignition key on with the engine off for long times while you are working on things as you could burn the points. Brendan.
Worst I ever had was a used Chevette that I bought for my wife. The dealer where I bought it had a 10 day, no questions asked, return policy. I brought it back on the tenth day and got my money back and went down the street and bought her a Plymouth Duster and it turned out to be one of the best cars we ever had.
