  1. You know, Rodney, you can have too much fun. Just ask Normspeed. Glad to hear you got the Plymouth fired up and put some good miles on it. Sure wish I could do that with my cars but it's going to be a while yet.
  2. Great project, Bob. You will enjoy the coupe but in different ways than the convertible. Motor sounds great.
  3. Thanks for posting that, Jim. I need three for my cars and the price is really good. Think I will order some.
  4. I know I stumbled on to the site but I am not sure why. I had everything I needed for my car but must have been doing research of some kind. At the time pictures of a Canadian Dodge D25 were being looked for so I mailed some (snail mail as I had no digital camera or scanner then) and they were used on the home page section "Why a combined P15-D24 site ?". Didn't start on the forum until quite a bit later.
  5. The car is better looking than me. How can you tell I like the colour blue?
  6. Rodney, I have a battery disconnect on all my cars. They look like the second one in Bob's post. However, if I can find 6V battery tenders, I think I will go that route with all my cars.
  7. Without help, Chrysler is probably going to die as it is on life support now. Fiat could be a whole different ball game than the merger with Daimler. Without help our Mopars of all kinds may all become orphans like Plymouth and Desoto. The merger just has to be done properly, unlike Daimler-Chrysler.
  8. As I sit here we have another winter storm blowing in but as I said in another thread I have other hobbies to keep me occupied. Just wondering who else has other hobbies besides his old car. I also enjoy reading, photography (www.prairieironphotography.com), collecting wooden jigsaw puzzles and glass insulators, baking bread, and making wine. I am retired but busier than ever. Before I retired I used to say that work was getting in the way of my hobbies. I think it was true! Let's hear what other hobbies people have.
  9. We are back into the deep freeze with more snow forecast. Have enjoyed well above normal temperatures for the last few days. I had hoped to get my '48 Dodge D25 out for a spin but still too much snow in the alley behind me. Spring can't come soon enough although I have lots of other hobbies to keep me occupied.
  10. If I get or have a can that does not spray well, I usually pull the nozzle from a spray can that does and put it on the other can. Works like a charm. Some nozzles just seem to clog easily and others last a long time.
  11. Not a problem in Canada. Free univeral health coverage. If you want the extra perks you can get insurance for that but basic health care is free.
  12. I believe you can rent them from a number of automotive stores and new ones appear on ebay quite often. I bought a new one off the bay a couple of years ago and it works really well.
  13. Fiat is probably a better fit than Daimler. It would allow Chrylser to produce small, fuel efficient, good quality cars and that is what the public is demanding. Throw a little public money in. They could call it K Car 2. Fiat is a huge global company and probably would be a good fit. I have a feeling Chrylser will not survive even with the bailout unless it can get products the public will buy on the market quickly.
  14. Car is for sale next month in Paris. Book your tickets early. At least Barrett-Jackson didn't get to sell it! It will be interesting to see where it ends up and hopefully whoever buys it keeps its "survivor" patina as apparently it is in really decent shape.
  15. That is so great. Congrats on finding and enjoying another project. The scenery in your pictures looks gorgeous as well.
  16. Allan, when it Texas do as the Texans do......drink Lone Star beer.
  17. Don't brew beer but makes lots of wine with a good buddy and former colleague of mine. If I have less than 100 bottles on hand, I think I am running short.
  18. Welcome to the forum. That is a sweet looking '42 and they are quite a rare car as they did not make many of them. Whereabouts in Hawaii?
  19. What a great father-in-law. Tell him you might keep him around.
  20. I have done similar to the muriatic acid but used vinegar instead which I believe is acetic acid. It probably takes a little longer than suggested for the muriatic acid. You also have to use the vinegar full strength so it may actually work out more expensive.
  21. .....but not driven. It was 50F so I decided it was time to run my cars. Shovelled big snow drift behind the door out into the alley (can't see it because of the lighting). Primed the '48 and she fired immediately and I let her run for 20+ minutes. Too much snow and slop out back and around town to drive it just yet but could be this week. Supposed to be 60+F tomorrow and the next day. Probably get her out on Tuesday. More seasonal winter weather is supposed to reappear at week's end but I am enjoying what we have right now. I will start the other two tomorrow.
  22. Hubcaps hold them in place. I have looked for 15" ones and they are hard to find in nice shape. Lots of beat-up crap out there but nice ones are few and far between.
  23. Doesn't bother me to have active auctions posted. Good point though about posting those items even you are interested in. I usually check ebay every day if I am looking for something. If I happen to miss a day or so, that is the way it is. An overdrive transmission is going to go for lots no matter what. Bud, we are actually pretty friendly on this side also. Give us a chance.
