  1. John-T-53, thanks for all the pictures. I’m sure a lot of us would like to make the tailgate and BBQ. Just not practical for most. However, your pictures really let those of us who can’t make it live vicariously through your pictures. The most and best of the bunch! I would love to bring this old girl to the BBQ but it involves border crossing (not a problem with a passport) and a three, four, or possibly five day drive depending on weather and lack of problems. It doesn’t have a tailgate but does have the next best thing…..a big butt trunk.
  2. I would go with the smaller lights that are still quite big. I used some amber fog lights, which are sealed beam, on my 1938 Chrysler which I have since sold. I used them as signal lights. The bigger lights you show are out of proportion in my opinion.
  3. For me, it would be bangers and mash washed down with a fine pint of best bitter! 😊
  4. Not sure if it’s been mentioned but make sure you use engine assembly lube on the bearings during assembly. Otherwise it’s metal on metal when starting or even turning over with the starter. Not a good thing!
  5. A little bit of an introduction by the OP would have been nice. Just jumping in asking for information leaves me cold. I have what he needs but not going there.
  6. I used Steele body mounts when I restored a ‘38 Chrysler. I was very satisfied.
  7. I’m still not sure why you won’t put a kit in yourself. If you have disabilities, I understand that. If you have no time due to work/business, I understand that. If you have major family commitments, I understand that. If the thought of doing it yourself puts you off, I kinda understand that……….. but the kits have instructions and all you need to do is remove and replace some nuts. There are a couple of places, but not many, where you will need to crimp or solder wires. I prefer soldering with the absolute basic soldering kit. Saves you a lot of money as an upside, plus you get the satisfaction of doing it yourself. Your truck of course but just my two nickels worth. We stopped using cent coins years ago in Canada.
  8. I’ve never had and will likely never have that opportunity………..but I sure would like to. I’ll bet it’s a truly magical sight! It’s so hard to find anywhere, even on the prairies, without light pollution.
  9. As I said, I think I MAY have seen it on the forum previously. If it’s in Vermont, I’m at least a couple of thousand miles away from it.
  10. I’m pretty sure that parts car was on this forum a little while back. Owner was looking for help but probably changed his mind. If that is the car, I’m glad he saved it for you.
  11. That looks great! Good job!
  12. Gotcha! Too bad you and your wife have to deal with that. Hopefully you, your wife, and the ‘62 Ford Galaxy have a happy reunion at some point.
  13. I agree with Ivan_B. Now is the time to do it. Maybe your wife can be the broker here assuming she’s willing. A straight up honest conversation, although at times awkward, is sometimes the way forward. You need the car, the car needs you. Carpe diem!
  14. A photo of the ‘62 would be nice to share but you have it in your head and that’s what counts. I bought my Ford in 1979 as a second car and it slowly became a keeper. Had the blue repainted in 1982 but the white is original. The paint is not as nice as it shows in the pictures but I never worry about it that way. Had the original 260 V8 engine rebuilt a couple of years ago. New seat upholstery but rest of interior is original. So a pretty decent survivor which has never been restored but had some work.
  15. Do you have a new harness kit? If not, YnZ wiring is in California and speaking from personal experience their kits are good. Kit comes with very good instructions and are easy to install. Personally, I would go that route rather than pay someone else.
  16. Well, if anyone in the family deserves the car, it is you and your wife! I hope when the time arrives that your wish comes true. I like the early 60’s Fords and have a ‘63 Ford Fairlane 500 myself. Good luck!
  17. I hope you’re not putting the pictured doghouse on your truck! 🤪😵‍💫
  18. Absolutely true but this eclipse is visible from our little speck of dust called Earth, our satellite called the moon, and our local star. That’s what makes it so truly amazing to me!
  19. Parts will be out there. Not sure where and what the cost will be but it’s fixable. Young Ed on this forum got into an accident a few years ago with his P15 and it was a lot worse than yours. It got fixed and car looks great. It hurts to have your car damaged but it is fixable. There are a lot worse things in life that can and unfortunately do happen.
  20. I can’t believe so few people seem enthralled by the eclipse. I am no where near the line of the eclipse but still amazed by it. You could fit over a million Earths inside the sun and it is going to be blocked by the moon that has a diameter 1/4 that of Earth. Probably not many places in our galaxy of 140 billion+ stars can that happen. If you are not totally amazed by what happens in our solar system, galaxy, universe, I feel sorry for you.
  21. I had my 1953 Plymouth out today for the first drive of 2024. Weather is warm and snow is gone. I put on a new water pump and fuel pump recently and all worked well. I live on the prairies of southern Alberta but if you enlarge the picture you can see the Rocky Mountains in the distance above the car’s roof.
  22. Probably 10,000-15,000 volts running through the spark plug wires. I’ve had the experience of touching one. A bit of a wake up call is all. Old time mechanics would touch them to check for spark. It’s amperage that can kill you I believe.
  23. I did not clean anything before painting. I didn’t go too far down as it becomes 70 year old grease. The head was amazingly clean and I just painted it. I did pull the plugs and put in an old crappy set and just painted around them. Everything is back together now and running fine. Changed oil, that’s why the funnel. Not sure what you’re seeing. Only thing below the water pump is the front engine mount. I did replace the rubber part of the mount.
  24. Gotta be the truck! That will be a great project! I also think it would look very nice in its original colours.
