  1. Very nice set of cars and trucks. Hopefully with all the maintenance a fleet like that needs, you still have time to enjoy and drive them. There are some delicious car in your collection!
  2. I think it will finance his retirement......at least 30 minutes of it!
  3. Come on up to Canada and buy a Plymouth P15 or better yet a Dodge D25 ready for, or already with the 25" engine. I have always liked the fact that all our engines are the same length. I have a 251 CID in my '48 Dodge D25coupe that came out of a 1955 Dodge 3-ton grain truck. I bolted it right in after I replaced one valve that was burnt. On this engine the exhaust and intake valves are the same size so she breathes easier and has lots of power.
  4. Spring can not come soon enough here. At least you have green grass. Ours is ugly dirty brown with the last of the snow leaving. Enjoy your cars and put the heater on!
  5. For whatever reason, I have heard that the 251 is a good engine but the 265 can be a dog. Maybe it is the longer stroke, I don't know. I have a truck 251 in both my '48 Dodge and '38 Chrysler as neither had a motor when I got them but I had the two good engines so used them. I have put a ton of miles on both and I feel the 251 is a sweet engine.
  6. Way better to have a driver instead of a trailer queen. Where's the fun when all you do is worry about your car every time you show it, let alone drive it. All mine are drivers! The best part about owing an old car is driving it.
  7. Cars, like the ladies, always looking better with the skirts off!
  8. Fred, stay dry but if all of Manitoba floods come out west to Alberta! Bring the Chrysler and you can put it in my garage.
  9. If you're lucky, maybe you will get leid.
  10. I'd love a woody but that one is scary. Nice enough to be tempting but bad enough to know better. Like others have said it would need all new wood or at the very least some new wood and every other piece out and stabilized. Tempting but like Odysseus I will put plugs in my ears and not hear the sirens.
  11. That's OK Fred, I forgive you! Just don't let it happen again!!
  12. Glad to hear that at last all is well. You are now officially the overdrive guru!
  13. I think most people think they need TV. I know I have my favourite channels and shows I watch but do I need it. If I got rid of my TV I would have to read more, work on my old cars more, upgrade my stamp collection, play more with the grandkids......etc. Hey, maybe I will get rid of my TV.
  14. Interesting job and done OK but not great. I think the Utes from down-under are really sweet.
  15. My car is actually a '38 Chrysler, not a '39. I sure like it but I also like the '39 Chrylser which has the waterfall grill. Here is one more picture of my '38.
  16. Too bad, Rodney. I would be really p***ed if it was my car. How can anyone do that? I think there are some chromosones out there that those boys had better be looking for.
  17. 1977 Pontiac Grand Safari station wagon. Bought it in 1983 with 77,000 miles when my kids were small as I always avoided getting a van. Sold it in 2005 with 180,000 miles on it. It was starting to get rusty but the interior was nearly perfect and it still only used about a quart of oil every 2,000 miles just like it did when I bought it. Only ever did routine maintenance on it. Guy I sold it to ran it quite a while and then ran it out of oil and seized the motor. I think if I had kept it it would still be running fine.
  18. 1984 Volvo. My dad owned it for four years so I know it had a good life before I got it. Low miler when I bought it. Replaced lots including the wiper motor. Sold it three years later and within a week the driver's door fell off because of broken welds. I grew to hate that car. My friend had a SAAB and nothing but trouble. I never will buy another Swedish car and don't even like to see them. I have had nothing but good luck with American cars and have driven lots of Fords and GM products only doing routine maintenance. Presently have a 2003 Impala and I love that car. Everyone has a different story of their own car from hell I guess.
  19. Ditto. That is exactly how I feel about NASCAR. Once the number 3 was no longer running I just lost interest. Only been to one race and that was in Las Vegas 10 years ago so I can at least say I saw Earnhardt race. He finished seventh that day. Nowadays you have cookie cutter cars, tracks, and drivers. I loved the days when they really raced "stock" cars.
  20. Interesting project and we'll look forward to the updates and pictures. Looks like the one door turned out really nicely.
  21. I don't need anything but I really appreciate the fact you are willing to take the time to get parts for fellow forum members. That is really decent of you!
  22. My '53 Plymouth has 96,000+ miles with original motor and oil pump. Still have great oil pressure and have no plans to replace it. Even if I rebuilt the motor not sure I would change it if it met specifications.
  23. Mine are done although in Canada the deadline is April 30 whereas in the US I believe it is April 15. We just have longer to procrastinate if we want.
  24. Glad to hear all is well. As Tim said, don't rush things. Better to take is easy for a little longer than recommended because you don't want to go through it again.
