  1. I had 2 SU carbs from a TR 6,  very close in displacement to the 218 230.  A friend was going to weld up a semi side draft tunnel type intake that would have mounted the carbs to split the distance between intake ports. It would have had about a 3 1/2 to 4 inch runners from the common plenum to the intake ports.

He got the flanges cut but then I found the Fenton intake and the project got shelved.  At one point I had also thought about just making two curved adapters to run the SUs into the Fenton, but that went nowhere also as the Carter's have given 0 issues in the last 15 years. I liked the SU s adjustable mainjets and easy adaptation to a cable type throttle linkage.

Thought P2P rules stated intake had to be similar to stock.

  2. Lets add some more old technology that has seen a comeback

P 15 style Starter button on dash recently reintroduced as push to start key less ignition

trunk mounted brake light comes back as high center mounted stop light

Vacuum wipers come back as intermittent and infinitely variable wiper switch.

Old Lockheed brakes and wider modern all season radials DBA anti lock brakes

And one that is missing that should definitely come back adjustable front vent windows.............

  3. Srcreen.  I was out and about yesterday with the temps in the low 90's.  That vent moves a lot of air around, and air that's moving is better than air that ain't when its that warm.

We could get the whole points versus electronic thing and just what do those letter" HEI" really  stand for??  I bet some folks are gonna a be surprised..............

  4. The filtering system for air might better be called the oil trap filter rather than the oil bath. Most folks are probably under the impression that the air traveling into the engine passes through the oil, and the air is bathed of dirt as it passes through.  This is not the case.  The air flows into the cleaner assembly and passes through an oiled filter media.  What particles that are not trapped by this media travel at a high speed through the filter air path.  The air traveling at speed is forced to make a 180 degree turn changing direction from downward to upward over the oil reservoir.  As the impurities are heavier than the air they are suspended in, they can not make the turn and fall into and are trapped by the oil.  Engine heat and air flow keeps the upper media element moist with oil.  The major reason for maintenance other than cleaning out the accumulated entrapped particles, is to keep the oil at the level necessary to to supply the mist to the upper filter element.  If the system doesn't work well why is it still in place in most heavy duty construction vehicles, stationary diesel installations, and other equipment meant to operate in dusty environments?

  5. Channel surfing the other night, Overhaulin was on.  It on one of those HD cable deals here, so mayot on general cable.  they did a top ten where they brought the cars and owners back for a reunion at the beach.  The owners seemed pretty happy with thier cars and what was done.  One fellow had made some other small changes, but it seems that they were not getting driven much.  One guy said that he get his out for about 25/30 miles a couple time a month.  Another said he only uses it for taking the family out for diner or ice cream run once in a while.  One fellow did mention he gets to some cruise in on a weekly basis.  But apparently they do drive and run, although the fellow with the 426 Road Runner convertible says he gets no more the 5MPG.

The promo for the new Wheeler Dealers is for a season where he buys the cheapest car that he can find and is goig to try to trade up into an Aston Martin of some such thing.

  6. What would be an interesting thing to do would be to follow several of these creations for a couple months after the new owners get them, or to check them out 1 year later.  I think your points about workmanship would be easily identified.  Even the overhauling cars would be interesting to see i year later.  You know previously on "counting cars".  Maybe somebody like the guy up in Canada who uncovers and fixes all the shoddy home improvements suposidlu doe by reputable contractors.  Maybe even old Plymouthy could be the host/ investigator.
