  3. where do i get them? Im in need of the springs that reside behind the tentioner screws that are right at the shift levers. thanks
  4. thats all good but.... I dont have the pressure plate, disc or bearing. the crank does have the pilot bearing in there already.
  5. I bought a p18 engine to put into the ol dodge, So to make things easy i will switch it over to a standard shift. due to the cranks being un-alike.
  6. clutch kit; PRESSURE PLATE CLUTCH DISC THROW OUT BEARING.
  7. where are you guys buying the clutch kits at?
  8. thank you. that anwsered all my questions.
  9. anyone got a pic of the lower cover off a hydo matic? that would help
  10. I crawled under the ol dodge today to start the engine removal. i started to take the hyromatic cover off the bottom. I took out the little dust shield. the motor to trans arms, the bolts along the edge of the lower cover and i GOT the two right above the crossmember. no go. on the trans flange there are 2 studs in the lower lip of the trans, my question is do these studs do all the way up and into the lower trans cover?
  11. gryo matic? same as fliud drive? anyway differnt motor going in so marking the crank is not an option. any other advice?
  12. 89 lbs. thats not heavy at all. I ship that stuff through greyhound all the time. cheap too!!
  13. does the gyro seperate just like a regular standard shift trans?
  14. this may sound dumb but here it goes. I been looking at this pig. I removed my drag link to inspect the problem I was having with the motor I might be wrong but it looks like the motor could drop out through the bottom? any thoughts? i have the front of the engine stripped down to the bare block. the only thing on the motor is the manifolds
  15. I will be pulling the motor next week in my 49 dodge. it has a gryomatic trans, my question is what is easier. to pull it all in one piece or can I leave the trans in the car? that trans looks heavy. any advise on this would be great.. thanks.
  16. yep did all that pulled the head soaked it tapped it everything. one piston still will not get wet around the skirt. the rest got damp on the bottom. pulled oil pan. nothing seems outta wack./
  17. well I thought I had the motor freed up. guesse not. or maybe. heres my question. my car has a gryo matic. Is there anything in the trans that could have broke in 59 and would case the motor to become stuck with the engine. also I didnt pull the starter. could the starter drive be stuck into the flywheel. I think #5 is still stuck. but with a 4 foot pipe on my breaker bar outta done the trick. on the rear of the motor does it have a flywheel and plate like a normal car with the "coverter" behind it. I never had a motor this tuff to break loose... what do ya think? How long does one have to let the motor "soak" remember has been sitting since 59
  18. car quest has new ones.
  19. got the bastard loose:D On other motors I have primed with oil by running the drill in the dist. how would one go about priming a 230? thanks
  20. na. as I see it to each his own. These all original restorers are a bit flakey anyway. Theres alot to argue over. just get over it and enjoy life.
  21. still stuck. looked into the cylinders from the bottom side. all but 2 are damp from the pent. oil. now my question is. would it benefit me to pull the timing cover and "unhook" the timing and spin the valve train over by itself to make sure things are just as stuck there as well? this should make it have less resistance to turn over. ? I would assume if the valves are stuck and so are the pistons would would be super hard to get it to turn over. remember it hasnt turned over since 1959. so what do ya think. also makes ya wonder why the car was parked in 59 anyway, I did pull the caps and the bearings are not worn and none had slipped
  22. Im ready to rebuild the brake system on my ol 49 dodge. I did you years ago. I think the front has 2 cylinders per side? and one per side in the rear. Does anyone have a good lead on the best route to do this. Like place to get the parts. new cups, master rebuild kit etc. thanks for any info.
  23. that car has tons of potential. I would buy that quick. wheres it at?
  24. na tried differnt ones in differnt cylinders. no coke. but I did drink some southern comfort!! hmm wondering is southern comfort would free that up?
