  1. if you push a bit too much nitro.
  2. Guys; Dont get me wrong. I am sure this will be a fun event for all participants. I was just curious as to where the line was drawn. Were I in the area at the time of the show I would make plans to attend. As several of you have mentioned I also am not looking for trophies or awards as my biggest award is driving and enjoying my car. I do understand and respect the juding rules of the POC. It is good that there is a segment of the car hobby that is committed to originality. I would like to think that that segment also has respect for cars that appear original but have upgrades for safety and drivability. But for the most part that is wishful thinking.
  3. Norm; Nope. Like you I wanted to hear it run and run it did!
  4. David and Tony; Thanks for the response. I fully understand that my car with a Desoto engine, dual carburetors, etc. is modified. However I still have a question. If someone replaces the original trunk rubber mat with carpet is his car now classified as "modified"? Where is the line in the sand drawn and whom makes that call?
  5. Mackster; Desoto and Crashler engines differ in 53-54 only by the length of the stroke. Crashlers used a longer stroke increasing the displacement from 251 CI to 265 CI. I have installed a 53 Desoto engine in my 48 P-15. I did not do any head work when I first assembled my engine. I have sence picked up a "Spitfire" head and plan on giving it the full treatment prior to installing it. The only difference in a Spitfire head and the original is the raised Spitfire logo cast into the top of the head.
  6. Bob; I thought it looked like a Champion. I have at least 3 such screwdrivers. My dad always told me they were top of the line and favored because of the tongue and groove shank lock. I also believe they pre date your Plymouth by several years. The one in the center of the picture has my Grandfathers initials stamped into the shank lock. He used this for working on electric meters when he worked at the powerhouse near Woodruff Place in Indianapolis. He died in 1926.
  7. Out of curiosity just where is the sand line drawn splitting stock and modified? Also who is the artist (or group of artists) who draw the line? This is one of those issues that is a bit gray (not black and white) in my thinking. Just how many "unauthorized field modifications" are allowed before one crosses the line? I think I would feel put out if I drove my Plymouth to such a meet and than had to park out back and not with my friends.
  8. Jim; I responded on POC. Looks like the top goes to the wipers as I suspected.
  9. Tim; Sell that original hammer on the bay! Others are selling the ones they have. You will never use it again as I know you bought a new one from your description.

  11. Bob; Copy the last line marked "img" Should look like this with a "[" in front. IMG]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v136/vanbuskirk/p-15rudolph-1.jpg[/img]
  12. Whoops, Sorry! First time I ever was wrong:rolleyes:
  13. To the best of my knowledge there is no difference in P-15 and D-24 rear springs.
  14. Chet; Learned long ago that what is black and white to me is grey to others. And what is grey to me is black and white to others. I suggest you get a long term memory test. You should remember Joes wife:D
  15. John; Fiberglass it is. I have not done any body work on my car. It was like this when I bought it. Still looks good so it will stay this way for a while.
  16. Charlie; Hope your son returns safely. Thanks for the link and I just sent a card.
  17. Bob; What is the brand name on the screwdriver second from the left? Is it a "Champion"?
  18. Steve; Do you work for E-bay:confused: What you say is not necessarly true. I bought my car on E-bay long before I used or even knew about sniper programs. I waited until the last 20 seconds left in my cars auction before I placed my bid. My point is that the best way to win an auction is to place your bid shortly before the auction closes using a sniping program or doing it manually. I fail to understand why anyone would want to place there higest proxy bid when an auction has a lot of time left. I watch items I have an interest in buidding on and E-bay will alert me when the auction is near the end.
  19. I originally installed a pair of D-24 springs on my car about 3 years ago when I installed my differential. These springs (the black ones pictured here had a better arch than my originals. However the centering pin sheared in one of these springs. This allowed the differential to shift and wiped out one of my air shocks. So I re-installed my original springs and shocks. Have been driving this way most of the summer. When I had an opportunity to inspect my car while on the lift at Tim Adams place a month or so ago I found one of my original springs not looking very good as it was bent the wrong way. So yesterday I took my black D-24 springs to a spring shop in Smashville. Talking with the spring guy he said my best bet would be to replace the second major leaf and replace the broken centering pin. So I had him do so. Picked them up today and they look great. Tab was $156.31. This was much better than the five bill price of replacement springs I found from the vendors in the links section of this forum.
