  1. More info above... I read somewhere recently (maybe it was here) that someone sent their newly purchased Carter pump to Then and Now to have it checked (before installing it), and they replaced the spring inside because apparently it was way too stiff. Per the link above I have been running a pump now for 10 years with the repair I did after the tunnel breakdown. I have some oil leakage out of the pivot pin hole now, perhaps my spring is too stiff and it may be enlarging the hole in the casting....? Oh well, I will soon convert to an electric pump.
  2. I can't speak for the big boys specifically, but if your flange has a groove where the seal rode, it'll leak again with a new seal. I've had good results repairing with a speedi-sleeve made by SKF. You have to pull the flange, measure the diameter of the shaft, then look up to see what size will fit....
  3. Do any of the bigger versions of the flat 6 have 7 mains?
  4. Such is life living in the shadows of the more mass-produced brands.... But there are misers in the classic Chevy world too, that I've dealt with. I vote that you eff off the employer and their easily-offended gaggle of drones and start up a parts manufacturing facility at your homestead. Take some casting tools with you on the way out.... "Coon Rapids Classic Mopar" "Puma's Lair Reproductions" ?
  5. I looked up their site, they are located in the same city in NY that the overpriced ebay NOS valve is shipping from. Hmmm, I wonder...?
  6. I haven't heard of Mopar PRO, what's up with them? As for the NOS valve on fee bay, for F sake is all I can say...
  7. Nice dump, Mark.... I was surprised and honored to get the double piston best in show award this year, something that I never imagined receiving (Especially since showing up late on Friday and forfeiting clean up duty again). Thank you Tim! But hey.....I did spend a whole weekend sanding and buffing my tired paint (more like pa***a)....haha. Also big thanks to Steph and Zach for their time-honored roles in making these get-togethers a success. BOOM!
  8. Got it installed just in time for the long drive up the 5....
  9. I didn't take too many this year, so here are the ones I have: Jim's New vintage YOM plate (redacted): @Jim Shepard let me know if OK to post the "unredacted" version, haha Driving to work then home a couple days later:
  10. Don Bunn is rolling over in his grave seeing his life's work being reduced to a webpage with pop up ads.... ?
  11. Update - New shifter boot arrived! Custom designed leather and ordered from Redline Goods. The rubber one I had sourced from a Jeep place always kept disintegrating on me.
  12. I performed an oil change and had the opportunity to insert one of the Baldwin filters that I bought off Fee Bay last year. Fits great, and the gasket fits too. Despite missing the inner "dome", it seems to work fine so far. One thing that is missing is a seal at the top of the element, which would allow unfiltered oil to flow to the outlet. To mitigate, I installed two steel washers with an I.D. equal to the shaft diameter, with an o-ring sandwiched in between them, compressed by a spring as shown. Maybe it might do something...
  13. Only two and a half weeks left to have it complete in time for Clements, and that includes drive time.
  14. Sounds like a baked on porcelain enamel coating is needed....or something of the such.
  15. That turbo housing/body looks like it gets hotter than the exhaust log... Can you get that coated?
  16. There is a guy in Halifax, PA who deals in Mopar distributors and ignition exclusively. He posts on the "C bodies" forum and many of folks I know there have dealt with him. See link below. https://www.forcbodiesonly.com/mopar-forum/threads/mopar-only-distributors.76176/#post-1146227
  17. My friend Caesar (who has come with me past two years) wants to being his '64 C***y truck. Is that allowed? lol. As for my B-4-B, I had some sticking valves on the way up last year which I will do my best to address before April. Need to pull the head. If not, I might drive the new '71 console-equipped fuselage C-Body (I sold the banana). Friday arrival planned.
  18. Whoa, awesome time capsule of a truck! Looking forward to seeing more photos of it!
  19. That's a lot of shaving. But you definitely don't want to be wider than longer, nor be scraping the sides of tunnels, lol.... Too bad about the house cat. Down one, up two. You'll have to build a kitty tunnel connecting the house, shop, and shop annex... ?
  20. I think I missed this, but what is the reason for converting the rear suspension over the bags? Softer ride over the leafs? Also, I'm taking stock of those rear wheel beauty rings...those are probably very unique given how deep they are. Do the new cats signify that the previous cat on the house side eventually met its demise?
