  1. Hi, having purchased my Business Coupe I immediately noticed (well wasn't really difficult) that the trunk had been extended (well, not really sure why) to the cost of the passenger space. Now that I am undergoing an almost full restoration I have decided to put my beauty back into its old specs a) because it was ment to be :-) and because that way I would be able to add an additional "sitting space" for short journeys. Has anybody got vintage or new pictures that could help me to understand how the business coupe actually should look like from behind the actual benchseats? How this addeed seat looks like, was attached? How far back the inside actually went? How this looks like from the trunk end? etc. Any references, pictures, drawings, dimension information would be more than welcomed. All the best, Thom
  2. Hi guys, sorry for "abusing" this part of the forum. I have posted this parts request on the parts wanted section. But didn't have a response yet. I really do need the rocker molding clips (4) and the front fender trim clips (4). I hope anybody can be of help. Thom, Munich
  3. Hi, great idea, added my placing so that Germany has at least one representative. Thanks for all your help sofar. Thom
  4. Hi Donald, you wouldn't by any chance be able to provide me with a picture of your set-up? Thanks/ Thom
  5. Hi guys, how could one adapt the lever idea (originally set-up for the break pedal) to the backup light issue. The lever would need to be somehow "touched" by the gear shifter? The tranny idea sounds intruiging - would need to look and check if that is in place in my car. Thom
  6. Hi, was wondering - being a gadget freak - I actually installed a nice (not mopar - but still nice) vintage backup light on my 1948 Plymouth business coupe. Now obviously any devices installed should also work properly. First attempt - purchased a small hook which is attached to the gear lever strings inside the engine area. The right attachment should engage the backup light when put into the rear gear (and back). Overall, however, almost impossible to adjust. So I skipped that idea. Of course I could install a normal switch which I could engage manually - on/ off. But that is somehow boring. Now, what could one do (without having studied electronic engineering) to somehow install a lever device inside the dash board area that basically activates the backup light when I put the gear into reverse, deactivates it when I change the gear again? Any ideas are more than welcomed? Thanks/ Thom
  7. Hi, discovered a "good" deal on a headliner through http://www.wlsheadliners.com. Has anybody had any experience with this supplier. Besides that any other recommendations regarding headliners - kind of a problem: I can't really wait to long for its arrival. Thom
  8. Hi, on ebay there are always quite a few kickpanels on offer - made out of cardboard I believe. Is this what they were made of originally? Not maybe wood and then covered with some sort of fabric? Who does good ones? Thanks/ Thom
  9. Hi guys, I am currently on the hunt for the appropriate gasket set to continue my P15 restoration. Doing this I kind of encountered Andy Bernbaum. Now the following I understand: B-121..........Gas filler neck grommet................ B-163..........License lens gasket........................ B-253..........Parking light lens gasket................ B-255..........Tail light lens gasket..................... B-300..........Headlight bucket to fender gasket.. But what about the Third Brake Light gasket - I kind of can't find it anywhere? Can anybody help? Thom

  12. By the way: Is the Textor Chrysler Engine red ok? Thom
  13. Hi - thanks: I shall not indulge in a spledge of additional paint on the hood ornament. After all I want to keep the look as original as possible. Also great to have received the overview picture of some period ornaments. Really cool. By the way: I attached the hood ornament lighting to my gauge dim switch. Thom
  14. Hi, winter is around and therefore enough time to fine-tune ones car. Looking at the hood ornament itself I was contemplating if the "cross stripes" (the picture is trying to indicate what I am referring to) were originally painted in red. Have checked all ad prints that I was able to get hold off and I am still not sure about it. Colourwise (having checked the various threads) the recommendation seems to be funneling down to the testor colour "chrysler engine red". !!! Thanks/ Thom
  15. Guys - would love to be of service myself to some of your questions. Guess, however, that shall be taken a while!!! So if you do require any ":-) German translations skills" or produces of any kind from Good old Europe please do let me know. Thom
  16. Hi, sorry - it is not always easy to communicate technical matters in a different language than my mother tongue!! No, it is not about allowing individual parallel adjustments. It is, however, about increasing the range of movement which is currently rather limited (the standard adjustment in the Plymouth really doesnt make a huge difference). Fact is, I am almost to tall for leaving the bench seat where it is. Henceforth simply thought about putting the entire seat slightly backwards. Now that would be a real problem for Jenny who requires the seat to be reasonably close to the stearing wheel. Now the solution therefore would be to go for a seat slider system that would simply allow a longer range of movement (closer towards the steering wheel; further back than the standard system). Not being Mr. Technical I was hoping to find an off-the shelf solution (maybe even from a modern car). Thanks/ Thom
  17. Hi, we - saying me and my financee - are when it comes to our Plymouth a rather strange match: To her the bench seats are never near enough; given my 6foot3 I really could do with a few more inches towards the back. Now with that in mind I was thinking about installing some seat sliders allowing for more movement towards the front and the back. Has anybody made any experience with of the shelve offers? By the way, we still have the original bench seats installed and I am not planning to change that. Thanks
  18. That is what I also thought - thank you very much. thom
  19. Hi, given flathead 6 some boost (and hopefully more mileage per gallon) without really having to rebuild everything I was contemplating to: using the above intake adding two carbs Now a) what is your verdict to the above intake anything better ideally even cheaper on the market c) what carbs would you be going for - after all I need two and therefore would have to buy two of the same As always - little help with my current knowledge level but nevertheless less appreciative towards all your insights and help. Thom
