  1. ptwothree. Thanks. Builtfetcomfort. What devent, I mean also big meets are there on the East Coast?
  2. Hi Wayfarer. Thank you very much for your kind response.I shall wait and then Approach WRStorey in due time :-)
  3. Hi guys, this might be the wrong spot for my concern, questions. If so, do let me know where to turn instead :-) I am planning to synch up my short visit this year to LA with attending the Ponoma swap meet. Having to sell off my Plymouth Business Coupe due to a family extension (do need a four seater now) I was kind of hoping to find something of interest there. Get it delivered to my freighter carrier and send it home to Germany. So my questions are: What is your experience with Ponoma price and choice vice. Meaning, realistic prices or over the top? Is it a place to find decent cars and not only hot rods or completely rebuild ones? Honestly, not really my cup of tea :-) How would the actual purchase process work. Of course I would have to pay cash :-) And yes, I should be getting a sales contract and the car in the end. But then I might also need the title. Is that right? Would I need something else? How could I get to car off the ground to the freight carrier organisation. Would I be able to drive it there? Do I need an insurance etc.? Finally, if I happen to find something of interest that would need some work to be done I was wondering if that work should be done in the US instead. Might eventually be cheaper. Does anyone know of a decent, affordable and fast Garage that I could be approaching for that purpose? Sorry for the amount of questions. And thank you very much for all your insights and Inputs. Thom
  4. . . . did send you a personal mail on your private email. Thom
  5. Matter is in good hands - and thanks again to everyone for his help :-) Thom
  6. Hi Tim, this is not a joke - and yes being German I shall not accept a no :-) - this beef jerky shall be yours. Unless you know a better one : http://amishcountrybeefjerky.com/ Should you manage to see the car, please do also include in your picture set your personal address. And again - a no shall not be accepted. Thom
  7. Hi, that is an amazinig coincidence :-) Now, I am not expecting perfection, I am taking anyone accountable (obviously!!!!). But even a non-savvy person might be able to judge those aspects I have indicated. I am looking for a decent car - that works from day one and does not require enormous work to be done right now. Obviously - work will always have to be done in time :-) Again - how would you judge the paint work and the rust issue (if an issue too expensive to solve, how is the underbody, how the interior, if you were able to drive how does it feel, how does the engine look like. possibly even more picture to tbarath@web.de. I have spoken to Rodger (478-952-1473 Rodger) so the car is still available and he would be more than happy for someone having a look. Also - you would not have to make any deal discussions :-) Could you do that for me (without any time pressure obviously :-). And do let me know how I could gratify you for that. Thom
  8. Hi and Hello, something different and sorry for "abusing" this forum :-) I have decided to go for a Corvair as an additional fun drive. Looks to be the best choice given my budget and that I do want a convertible. I have discovered a neat looking Corvair meeting all my requirements on the internet. The owner is situated in Hawkinswille, GA. As we all know - words and the not so many pictures might occassionaly be rather betraying. Hence I am "looking" for a person that might pass this car a "visit" to check the following: Paint quality, state of the tires, rust issues, underbody reality, engine status, driveability, a rough understanding of the state of car and what would be required in the shortterm, additional pictures back to me. Obviously - through paypal - I would pay for any expenses and the time required to do this "job". So - I am not expecting anything for free!!!!!!! Should anyone live close or know somebody that does and that is willing to do the above (again not for free) then please do let me know. Highly appreciated. Thom
  9. Hi, something completely different. I have somehow fallen in love with the idea of adding a Jeep Wagoneer to my collection. Why, please don't ask :-) Now, given the tax legislation here in Germany it would have to be a 1982 or older modell. I have now spotted one on ebay in LA: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230656614767&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT Would anybody be willing - living close by - or does anybody know somebody who would be willing to have a look at the car and give me a decent evaluation of the car. I have learned not to trust in online offers. Fact is: Of course any car needs some work to be done. However, I really would like to keep this to a minimum. I am looking for a car that just works, at least for a while. Obviously, I am willing to pay for the above service. Thanks/ Thom
  10. ... as usual. This forum is always soooooo helpful. And so many great people around! Thom
  11. . . . well, I guess I managed to break it then:-) What a bummer
  12. Hi guys, finally - first day running my P15 BCoupe through Munich again. What a great feeling - not everything is working AOK, but I am getting there. Fuel gauge doesn't seem to react - even though I have replaced the sender already. Well, that should be sorted out easily, Another - bigger problem - the heat gauge is non active. Not good obviously, not being able to control the temperature of the old lady. I don't think it is an actual gauge issue, but a problem with the "I called heat line connection" in the engine. When I took it off something looked slightly "broken". Three questions: a) Has any of you got a photo of the ending of the "heat gauge line" (what is it called in English actually?:-)) that goes into the engine? Would like to find out, if mine really is that different! If a replacement is needed can one buy the that line seperately? c) Who has got one for sale? Thanks as usual. Thom
  13. Hi and hello, with two left hands :-) I managed to repair my engine over the winter. Overly motivated, I already assumed everything to be ready and filled up the cooler with water - and then I heard it, yes the water pooring out of the engine. Fact is I forgot to fasten those two long exhaust manifold bolts, they are loose which resulted in the water finding its way out. Now - the question: Given this situation will I need to open-up the entire engine again in order to clean it from any remaining water or will I just be able to fasten the bolts, fill-up the cooler again and go on with having fun with my car? Thanks for your support. Thom
  14. Well getting closer to the building year "1948" of my Plymouth business coupe. Why this car, because a business coupe is just something extremely beautiful. Why an old car: I do like to looks of the 40s. Thom
  15. Hi, something different for a change. Just recently bought myself a Chrysler 330c touring - very similar to the dodge magnum. Some browsing directly guided me to an interesting design gadget - the woody styling. http://www.ptwoody.com/dm004.html Has anybody seen this life? What is the quality like? Photos more than welcome. Thom
  16. Hi, what tool are you actually using for this procedure. Organised one - apparantely for a vintage Volkswagen, theoretically it should have worked. In reality, however, the measurements didn't really meet the needs. So - any help on the tool front? Thanks
  17. Hi, unfortunately I have to replace two valve sets. And no I can not take out the entire engine. The current status quo: everything that is relevant was taken off also the engine head and side cover. So the valves are visible from the top and the side. I also believe to have the right tool required to take the valves out. Our first attempts - together with the tool - failed to achieve the final result. Could anybody provide me with advice (would be great to receive both pictures and verbal instructions) how I could take valves out, what needs to be done etc. Any help would be very kindly appreciated. Thanks/ thom
  18. Thanks, yes I was thinking about a jump seat. Thom
  19. Hi, it is really tremendous what one can gather within such a short period of time. OK - I now understand - the folding sideways seat is a myth and I shall leave my business coupe as it is. Thom
  20. Hi, thanks again - so the issue of having a folding seat attached to the sides is a myth? :-) Again: I am not referring to adding a bench. There isn't enought space for that. (Your picture are of course the perfect prove for that). And I wouldn't like that anyway. Thanks/ Thom
  21. Hi thanks Marty, thanks for your response but I believe there is a minor misunderstanding. What is for sure: The trunk has been expanded by quite a bit. So orginal it not! And yes, I do know that this is not a Club Coupe. And even more, that is why I bought this car. I believe to have seen - and that is very similar to the Dodge Business Coupe - that originally there was more space between the seat and the rear compartment. And I believe that there used to be a folding seat that was attached sideways. Obviously Marty, I could be awfully wrong. But that is exactly why I am inquiring. Again thanks for your support. Thom
  22. Hi, you are absolutely right - I should be rephrasing my words towards: All the hints provided by the great forum members I directly went for. As a result the trim clips might be on the resolved track. Not 100% sure yet. The rocker molding one isnt. A kind forum member did actually provide me with a set. Only after having received them I noticed that they unfortunately were wrong. Wrong not because I was cheated but because it looks like two differnet types were used at that time. And mine simple belongs to the other - more seldom - type. So if you can still help that would be fantastic. thom
