  1. Thank you, both, for responding. I'll check the motor mounts as suggested. And, Greg, are these bushings, that you mentioned on the lower part of the steering column, visible? Or are they internal and require some disassembly to inspect? mark
  2. Yes! When trying to shift from 2nd to 3rd, the gearshift lever on the column just won't go into the 3rd gear position without a good bit of "juggling" and/or quite a bit of force. Once I get it in 3rd, it stays there just fine, and there are no other problems or noises, etc. I lubricated all the joints in the shift linkage, and inspected it's motion while my partner operated the shift lever from inside the car. There seemed to be no excessive play in any of the components, and the "action" seems to be getting all the way to the control rod that ends at the transmission. I'm thinking there still could be some problem with the linkage up near the steering wheel, or maybe I'm experiencing an actual problem with the transmission. Looking for any ideas or similar experiences, or anything ! : )
  3. '48 Dodge D-24 Having trouble shifting into 3rd. Doesn't seem to be problem with shift linkage... Any suggestions for troubleshooting?
