Thank you all for the replies and info. I just found a couple of my old distrib + rotors they are same part#s AL96 and AL98 as the new ones i installed and they match the numbers posted in this feed so looks like the issue is most probably the distributor slop that a few of you mentioned. Im thinking about installing the mini HEI distributor for Mopars by Langdons Stovebolt. Have any of you tried it? Heres the link http://www.langdonsstovebolt.com/store/online-catalog/#!/Stovebolt-Mopar-Mini-HEI/p/1222043

The distributor shaft does have a little lateral movement (maybe 1mm - 2mm) in it. I wonder what the tolerance is? Both distrib caps that ive had on it in the last 6 months came from same part store. Can anyone recommend an online resource for distrib cap? FYI: Rockauto doesnt carry them.

i have a flathead 6 Plymouth P15. The engine started running really rough. Then while checking my spark plug wires i noticed the engine wasnt firing on a couple of cylinders. However, if i gently push on one side of the distributor cap it seems to start firing on all cylinders. So i replaced points, condenser, rotor and distributor cap, but the engine wont fire on all cylinders until i press on the side of the distributor cap. The distributor cap is keyed so i know it is on correctly. It is fastened tightly to distributor. Any ideas?
  6. Awesome! Thank you for the suggestions. I’ve been looking for a reason to by a press, and now I’ve found one. Thanks again!
  7. 1947 Plymouth P15 Master cylinder swap out. Cannot remove fulcrum from old to put in new. I thought it had a roll pin but I have hit it with a punch from both sides but nothing has came out either side. I’ve also drilled from both sides but nothing. I’ve hit it pretty hard with a ball peen from both sides but it hasn’t budged. I included pics of the old and the new one. Notice the new one doesn’t have a hole on it where a roll pin might go. Any tips?
  8. Reg Evans, Checking them out now. thanks!!!
  9. Well gentlemen, I found the issue. The stud between #4 and #5 was the one that did not have a nut on it. However, it apparently corroded so bad that it basically rust welded (for lack of a better term) to the exhaust manifold. I had to use multiple chisels to inch the manifold away from the head evenly just millimeters at a time. (See pic below of the single stud hanging on to half of the manifold. The manifold was cracked in several places and was in bad shape before this. Of course, now it is in really bad shape. ? Does anyone have a recommendation of where to find new exhaust and intake manifold for a P15 in a 1947 Plymouth Deluxe?
  10. I apologize for the delayed response. You guys are awesome! I only had 11 nuts removed. Thanks "greg g"! Still had difficulty finding the missing 2 until "The Oil Soup" posted. One of them didn't have a nut on the stud and the other one was easy to loosen but the nut is just spinning on the end of the stud. Guess the threads on that stud are corroded. However, the manifold still doesn't want to come off. I will wait until the light of day and give it another shot. I will update this post as soon as I make some more progress. Thanks again to all!
  11. Yep, I found that tricky one in the middle underneath. That was the last one I found. I've been all over it with a flashlight and dont think I've missed any but I'll look for the pics. Thanks Jerry!
  12. Removing intake + exhaust manifold from P15 in my '47 Plymouth. I have removed all nuts from the manifolds studs but manifolds are not coming off. I can wedge a chisel in most spots but not on the exhaust manifolds in the center. Any pointers would be appreciated! Thanks!
