  1. The last picture you posted is great, I think I can manufacture the brackets I need for my 51 B3D based on that.
  2. I have an opportunity to buy a fluid drive system with a 3 speed transmission but have a few questions before I commit to converting. - Was this an option that was originally available on 1 ton trucks? I want to stay as close to originally available as possible, but am intrigued with the fluid drive option. - How well does the system work for engine braking or downshifting? Does the fluid drive prevent engine braking, or is it more like shifting to a lower gear on an automatic trans going downhill? There are some pretty good hills around here and I don't want the lose the ability to engine brake going down them. Thanks!
  3. I appreciate the offers but either one would be quite a haul from southern Pennsylvania.
  4. PA has the same rule, I am planning on pretending I don't know in the unlikely event I am pulled over, willing to bet that the vast majority of officers have no idea about that rule.
  5. I have been having a hard time tracking down a replacement seat for my 1951 project truck, somewhere along the lines the original was replaced with a mystery seat that is too narrow for the truck... Anyways I think I may have a line on a seat, the only issue is that both the lower and backrest springs have been left in the weather for too long and are basically junk. Has anybody attempted to recreate/rebuilt the seat with off the shelf springs? I would have the originals for measurements and templates, just curious if this road has been travelled before.
  6. After looking over some pictures I am not sure, they look like they fit quite a bit differently on the 1.5 and 2 tons... They are lower from the cab and stick out further to match the larger front fenders...
  7. I was thinking the same thing, the cabs are the same, was not sure about the frame height though.. May require a bit of trimming on the straight part that is along the cab. That would be perfect, cab length is what I need for my stake bed.
  8. Does anybody know if the short running boards from a 1.5/2 ton will fit a 1 ton? I found a decent deal on a pair for my project that needs a set....
  9. I'll see what I can get for a picture when I get home, but there really is not much more to it. Other than the chrome ring and stub of a stalk it is a black steering column.
  10. I am going over my project truck doing the archaeology to determine what needs to be replaced and what needs to be and can be restored. The steering column in the truck is interesting, it has a chrome ring and what appears to be the stub of a turn signal stalk, interesting part is that the stub is on the right side of the column instead of the left where you would expect it to be. The ring is stamped PLYAL USC, a quick google search did not turn up any useful information on that stamping. Does anybody know of this was a factory option to have turn signals or did my steering column get swapped out at some point and the turn signals never connected, I have the normal add on turn signal box on the left side of the column that is currently wired in. If this is a viable turn signal switch mechanism in the column I would like to see about getting it oriented correctly and working again. Picture attached for anybody curious about it.
  11. Understand that completely watertight is probably unattainable, for now I will settle for closing the 1/4 inch gaps between the vent and the window and getting some kind of seal into the cowl vent (nothing there now). First priority right now is stopping the progression of the rust on the floorboards so I can start repair work, have to get it to reasonably dry for that to happen.
  12. Tell me about it, I was looking at Coker Tire the other day and was choking on some of the prices, it's not helping that my project is a dually so I need 6 tires and tubes instead of 4..... Oh well, I guess you have to pay to play.... Would still like to hear anybody's thoughts on the DCM seal kit if they have used it....
  13. I have looked at them and expensive is a good description, I would be over $500 for just the windshield, back window, and quarter windows. Was really hoping the DCM kit would be acceptable quality for the money.... I may have to rethink that.....
  14. Hi all, my first post here so I will start with some background. I am purchasing my first pilothouse project, a 1951 B-3-D-126 stake bed. My goal is to get the truck back on the road as a sometimes driver while I finish up another project that is occupying my garage (1966 Mustang for my wife). One of the initial things that I need to get done is to completely reseal the cab, it needs all new weather seals. I am looking around for a complete kit as I am just learning these trucks and don't want to waste a bunch of time ordering parts only to find out I need another part that I did not know about. Anyways, does anybody have any experience with the Cab Glass Seal Kit from DCM? It looks like a good start with the addition of the draft seals for all of the pedals and a new shift boot. I need to get her weathertight as she has been leaking for awhile and the floorboards are deteriorating rapidly and will be replaced as part of the future restoration, right now I need to stop the damage. https://dcmclassics.com/glass-accessories/544-rw-4853-3-sk-cab-glass-seal-kit-3-window.html Thanks!
