  1. So I could not help it guys, I opened up PHOTOSHOP and altered my favorite Dodge Wayfarer photo from Google and made it appear bagged. This is the look I am shooting for on my 1950. My wife has a 1949 Wayfarer which we will be installing a 1" lowering block on the rear and installing Ford Aerostar springs in the front to give it about a 1" static drop all around. It will be lower than stock but not slammed.
  2. Now ya'll see mackster gets it. "DROP THAT BITCH TO THE GROUND!!!!" Down here in Texas we call such activity your "YOUR PULL UP AND PARK GAME". I respect everyone's opinion but if you are not into bags, then its understandable that you cannot relate. With that in mind, I have a 1950 Dodge Wayfarer that I definitely want to bag and lay frame; "FRAME TOUCH THE GROUND WHEN AIRED OUT". This car will be mostly driven to local meets and compete in shows. The photo attached shows a early 50s Chevy Special Deluxe which is a somewhat similar body style to the Wayfarer and some of you will see how it makes for a sick stance!!!! I was searching for a mustang 2 setup but would love to learn more about how dvanecek is doing his build though. What are you going to do in the back, a 2 link setup? PLEASE PLEASE provide us with more information!!! YOU OWE IT TO THE COMMUNITY!!!
  3. I have a 1950 Dodge Wayfarer and the Title has the engine block number on it. My car I think spent most of its life in Arkansas. My wife has a 1949 Dodge Wayfarer and her title is the same as the body serial number. Her car spent most of it's life and California. Now i have done research and found that the D34 in my 1950 model is applicable. I checked my wife's engine code however and it has an Engine code of D51. Can anyone give me some insight on what the specs on both of these are?
  4. Thanks Andydodge, I figured that this was going to be something that I was going to have to fabricate on. Thanks a bunch.
  5. Hello Mopar family. We have a 1949 Dodge Wayfarer that we are in the process of doing a full custom build on. I have removed the Garnish molding from around the front windshield, doors and rear quarter areas. I have noticed that there appears to be a strip of dry rotten felt on the window side of each of the side moldings that is stapled to the metal. My question is, does anyone know if someone sells replacements for these or is there another solution to deal with these old dry rotted seals. I have attached 2 photos so you guys can clearly see what I am referring to. Any help is appreciated. June
  6. Hey MackTheFinger, can you show me some pictures from both direction please. That would help me out a bunch.
  7. The kits come with a rotar and everything needed but I will have to change to disc brake style wheels. I am getting them made from www.thewheelsmith.net. Bob there is very knowledgable. I am using this master cylinder / power booster setup which mounts under the dash like modern cars: https://www.speedwaymotors.com/Under-Dash-Brake-Pedal-Assembly-Dual-Diaphragm,45467.html I spoke with the guys at Speedway Motors and they say that this is the most commonly used product for Disc/Disc setups. And we are keeping the old Flat 6 and Fluid drive trans, but converting to 12v and might need a vacuum pump though. There might be some modifications under the dash needed but wifey wants to be able to stop without freaking out. She also has a 1960 Ford F100 with drums all around and you have to stand on it to stop fast. Let me know your thoughts though YukonJack.
  8. I am doing a some what resto-mod build for my wife's 1949 Dodge Wayfarer Sedan. With that in mind we are converting it to disc brakes using the following components: FRONT KIT: https://www.tsmmfg.net/chrysler-car-front-disc-brakes-spacing-options.html REAR KIT: https://www.tsmmfg.net/chrysler-car-complete-rear-disc-brake-kit-2160e.html MC/POWER BOOSTER: https://www.speedwaymotors.com/Under-Dash-Brake-Pedal-Assembly-Dual-Diaphragm,45467.html Has anyone completed an upgrade using similar components? If so, do you have any tips on how to get the bracket for the pedal and booster lined up? I do not want to drill holes through the firewall to later find out that they are not in the correct location. Thanks.
  9. Hello Mopar Family, My wife and I have a 1949 Dodge Wayfarer 2 Door Sedan that is missing the rear interior garnish molding that goes around the rear 2 side windows. We have sourced a pair from a 1951 and wanted know if anyone knows if they are the same? From the looks of it, the rear exterior of a 1951 appears to be identical to our 1949. We would like to know for sure however prior to commiting to the purchase. Thanks
  10. OK @allbizz49, well I was supposed to have a guy come give me a quote today but the weather was too bad. What about the front suspension, we are going to freshen that up as well, so need a good source for parts. Thanks again.
  11. Hello guys, I am going to go ahead to strip it down for a full rebuild. Have anyone had a car media blasted with glass beads before? I have read mixed reviews about it. I also want to rebuild the suspension, any sources on parts? Thanks again guys.
  12. Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. We (wifey and I) purchased this car from my ole Gunnery Srgt. It has a clear title and was in the process of being restored when that current owner passed away and his family simply just brought the title to the body shop and washed their hands clean of it. That's when my ole Gunny got it, but later offered it to me. Since the family gave it to the body shop, a lot of the trim etc was still in the garage and not brought to the body shop however and therefore are missing. It has a motor that runs but the carb leaks. My father-n-law is a mechanics and I myself have been turning wrenches since high school so mechanically I am straight. I mostly need help with sourcing parts. Thanks, feel free to follow me on Facebook and Instagram @hooliganxmotorsports to follow along with this project as well as the others in our collection. Much love fam!!!
  13. My wife and I are picking up a 1949 Dodge Wayfarer in a few days and we are going to need all of the help that we can get to source parts as there are items in the interior missing. Is there any help that anyone can offer, please let us know where a good source for both interior and exterior parts. I have attached some photos so anything you guys see that I need, please let me know. Thanks guys.
  14. Thanks Dodgeb4ya, My old gunny is actually an excellent mechanic and he taught me a lot. If he can't fix it, something is definitely wrong with it!!! I will see if he can show me a video of where it is leaking from. Thanks.
  15. Thanks Merle Coggins for the replay. I have not picked the car up yet. My on Gunnery Sgt is holding it for me and he told me that he has tried to rebuild the carburetor but it leaks so I figured just buy a new one so that we can get it running. Are you referring to this highlighted area is where I need to look? What will this number tell me? Thanks in advanced for your help. I am a total newbie!!!!!
  16. I am soon going to purchase a 1949 Dodge Wayfarer. I need to replace the carburetor and need help selecting the correct one. Can anyone help. I have attached a few photos of the carburetor that is currently on the vehicle. Thanks in advanced. JUNE
