  1. Thought y'all might like looking at my '51.
  2. I know what you mean about everything starting up when there is a slight warm-up and you get out into the garage and it's a joy to have them all running smoothly. When I lived in Western Pa, the month of January was typically brutal winter weather with temperatures well below freezing and snow on the ground. No taking out the old vehicles for several weeks, if for no other reason, to avoid leftover salt on the roads. Next week there is supposed to be a warm up above normal temperatures; I suspect there will be lots of old vehicles out running around. Enjoy your day!
  3. Yeah, I've been in similar situations, driver behind me too close and passing unsafely and seeing him do it again and again down the road. I always remind myself, he's just an A**Hole and he does it to everyone, not just me. I find listening to slow oldies helps in these situations.
  4. It fits under the bed, in the back. Mine is just for show, it isn't functional.
  5. I feel for you. My three current Old Vehicles all have malfunctioning gas gages. Four of my previous Old Vehicles were similarly situated. And, my first vehicle in high school, which was 8 y/o at the time, also had a malfunctioning gas gage, as I found out on the very first tank, when I thought I had a half full tank, according to the needle, only to run out unexpectedly. These days, when I fill up, I log the date & mileage and keep an eye on it and estimate when I'll need more as I move along thru the cruise season. Haven't run of gas again in the past 30 or 40 years.
  6. Great looking truck. Love that suicide knob. I've got to get one of those too.
  7. In '64, I'd bought my first car, a '56 Ford, with blackwalls, naturally. So, since the cool cars had whitewalls, and since I couldn't afford those, I bought cheap Portawalls, and had them installed. I guess from 10 feet back, they looked "okay". I really don't remember, but I do remember they weren't as good as 'real' whitewalls. So much for having a cool car. Scheeesh.
  8. NC allows it and I have one on my '51 Dodge pickup, but, you need to also have the current antique plate w/you too. I keep my current plate in the glove box. I've never been asked by anyone to show it.
  9. Since trucks count too, here is mine.
  10. Great job on the shadow box and the placement of the stars on the flag. Many do not have it laid out with the stars raising up to the upper point of the triangle like it shows here. Well done.
  11. Ha, wouldn't you know, after posting the above yesterday, TODAY, while attempting to start the '51 pickup in a remote garage, it wouldn't. So, I needed to drag out the tool kit to get the battery hold down off, which was difficult in the near dark, and remove the battery so I could walk to a nearby outlet to plug in my charger in yet another remote garage. I probably haven't used that particular tool kit in two or three years, but, after posting YESTERDAY, I did! Just figures.
  12. I have basic tools, in plastic cases, that I've given myself for Father's day, for each of my 5 vehicles. I've used them for myself sparingly, but have helped a few others here and there. Basically though, I would rely on my phone to call Roadside assistance which is part of my insurance policies.
  13. Great looking truck, and I'm jealous of that passenger side rearview mirror. ?
  14. Thanks! I couldn't figure out how to rotate it.
  15. Here is my first vehicle, in '64, a '56 Ford.
  16. My '56 Ford Victoria, from a recent Cars & Coffee that I attended.
  17. Here is a picture of my red truck w/black running boards, FYI.
  18. I'm a fan of the whitewalls also. Individual choice I guess. I know that back in the day, the farmers who had these trucks didn't have whitewalls; they were just farm work trucks, dirty and banged up. But, now, for me, this one anyway, is not a work truck, just a fun toy.
  19. Beautiful looking car. Love that interior.
