  1. Wow #7 that's one long frame and a delux 5 window cab to boot! . What size engine does it have ? Good luck with it, Hank
  2. Could you please check what carburetor model number is on the forward fin of the carb itself ? Thanks, Hank
  3. A flat 1/8"-1/4" piece of rubber can be cut with a circle and a relief cut that can be placed on the cab floor. If you don;t have remove the filler neck. If you have to remove the filler neck then there are three concerns: 1. The hose (is it 4" dia. ? ) and correct clamps (must be done correctly unless after filling up, you enjoy the smell of gas on your journey. 2. The rubber grommet thru the cab. 3. The flat rubber piece on the floor that keeps mice out of US trucks and keeps Wombats and Snakes out of Davins UTE. Hank
  4. It's really not acceptable after all that time, effort and money spent to have a $5,000 (or whatever) paint job get ruined. It is a big deal even if "It's only a truck" Hank
  5. I spoke to Gary when my body shop guy pointed out the exposed pinch welds over a year ago. What is worse is that my split windshield molding needed 1/4" spacers to lift the metal piece off the paint where it meets the roof. Knowing Gary I thought no problem. Well he did not step up to the plate. He didn't and it makes me mad to know he still feels justified selling that (passenger car extrusion) ill fitting anemic extrusion to us truck guys. Come on Gary, I asked nicely the first time. I'd still like you to make good on mine. Utill Gary Roberts gets it right, I'd buy from Steel Rubber. Disappointed, Hank P.S. To be fair, I never had a problem with anything I purchased from Roberts with the exception that my interior kit shipped with the 48-50 door panel. As I expected, Gary sent me the 51-53 series. That's the kind of service I've come to expect from Gary.
  6. That's o.k. but pay the core charge and keep your original, Trust me, Hank
  7. Beautiful build and paint job. Excellent time it's only been 12 months since you started. Pretty darn good if you ask me, Hank
  8. I was sorry I missed you guys. I said yes, but my truck said no. It's the darndest thing and it's happened before. Symptom: Everything seems almost fine except that it seems the truck is running too rich and stumbles on acceleration (as if the timing is not correct) Worst part of it is if I happen to stall when the engine is hot, there is no telling how long I have to wait until it will restart. Except for the rough running and ballerina-like delicacy I have to use on the gas pedal I can get from point "A" to point "B" (like from my house to where we were going to have breakfast) let it cool and then make the return trip, it's the accidental stall that could happen at a traffic signal that leaves me stranded in the middle of traffic that is not acceptable. It's not terrible if it just happens to me just a PITA, but with the wifey along well you know how that goes. So my plan of attack goes something like this. Check the points, new plugs (it's time) and condenser. New wires (my cloth covered wires can get very finicky with the slightest introduction of water which makes me feel like they may be leaky and prone to shorting each other out during running (if this is possible) by the spark jumping between them. Honestly it does feel like a malfunctioning carburetor (I have a spare that not quite correct for my truck (1-11/16 bore not the 1 9/16 bore but it has worked before and using it might help me see if in fact my problem is fuel not spark) which when overheated will cause gas in the float bowl to boil and flood out my engine. I'm going to take the time to clean-up and make the timing marks on the pully very visible and see if I can really dial the timing in and do ther best tuneup I'm capable of doing. I missed you guys but there is a whole lot more summer left and hoping to hook up with you next time next place. Unless you own a Chevy or a Ford, I'm afraid swap-meets for Mopar have been over ever since eBay replaced the salvage yards some 10 years ago. Thanks for the offer Trampsteer hope you me and Rod can get together soon. I'd like to see your truck and see what parts I may have that you need so we can trade. Sorry I missed you guys, and Jeff wow that's dissapointing..hope you get out there soon.. Hank
  9. So Gloy Days Sports Grill in Lakewood. I'm going with my truck and my wife Blanca... See you there guys...and good fishing Jeff (only acceptable excuse as far as I'm concerned) Hank
  10. Shel, and you are sure you had the eccentric brake cam adjusters in the most retracted position ? Hope you are driving, not crawling under your truck, Hank
  11. +1 for me jeff i hope you run into a thick school of Yellowtail Trampsteer who's got that Brake Tool...? Rod see you there Hank
  12. Mark, n What a great place. Couldn't happen to a nicer truck...er guy! Can't wait to see FEF in his new place. Maybe no more dryer sheets required ? Hank .
  13. Hi Fernando, What gear ratio is that differential ? That's not the one you are currently using in your truck is it ? Hank
  14. Thanks for helping guys. I got what appears to be a really great deal from America's Tire Co. Trampsteer: (we're bound to meet up sooner or later and I need to borrow the brake adjusting tool I think Rod told me you have) So, you also have your truck running 16's rear 15s front ? Update on my tire purchase: I went to WalMart ($69). The Sams Club tech said he couldn't even come close to matching the Walmart price) I physhically got a look at the actual tires, while a picture may speak a thousand words...not so with tires (darn I forgot to bring my bathroom scale) My last stop was that Americas Tite Co would have better tires at/or around the same cost and they did and they matched Walmarts tire/install/tax out the door price. Details/Photos to follow: Hank .
  15. Because Keven's wife got tired of tripping over them and Keven gave them to me (Tk). But to answer your question Plymouthy, i'm guessing the tire saleman is trying to even out the difference in size by giving me a slightly taller tire (75) on the 15s to more closely match the diaameter/circumference of the (70) that will mount to the 16" wheel rear wheel. Jeff good thinking and thanks for remembering. Based on your experience what will be the clearance issues you can forsee. Am I way off the mark on a tire size pick ? Thanks for helping guys, Hank
  16. Finally going to pull the plug and get those butter yellow stock rims with Roberts hub caps and new treads on my waggon. it only took 30 something years. My B3B will run 15s up front and 16s on the rear. How would 235/R75/15s be up front with 235/R70/16s beon the rear ? Advice very welcome...Pics to follow..thanks, Hank
  17. ruff, I'm not really sure what these are from, but somehow they got mixed into the bunch of chrome sent to my chrome plater. They are beautiful, but they are wrong and I have what is correct for my truck . Suppose I should list them in classified car part of our forum ? Maybe someone needs them ? Anyone know what they are ? Hank
  18. Jeff, Very nice find. I can't make out what model it is from the pics. Is it stamped? That's great, Hank
  19. Wow Kudos to whoever took the time to do such a through job. Hank
  20. andrewj7, Provided the locks are factory...it could be they are not keyed alike If your locks look like those shown above, they are original. It took quite a long time until my truck had and original ignition lock and a matching door lock. Good luck finding what you need and a good locksmith. Good Luck with your truck, Hank
  21. What you really want is a zero pressure cap. It doesn't take much to overheat the radiator and cause the tank to pressurize and swell the tank and open seams. Hank
  22. Not sure which brand but my shop used zinc chromate on my bare metal then an epoxy primer no problems years later. Parts sat like this for a while before they were primed and painted...no problems to date Good Luck, Hank
  23. I don't know how you handle things back where you are but we don't take no guff from no one here in LA. http://www.wpxi.com/news/news/national/shocking-video-shows-violent-road-rage-brawl-los-a/nmZHh/ Hank
  24. Thanks for the CD explanation 8Dodger..but one thing is not true...these tube radios can absolutely be heard and heard well while driving they are a lot more powerful than you would imagine. My only complaint is that around here no-one has an AM Radio Oldies station. Talk radio and sports are not a problem (and you know I still say a baseball game on a tube will take you back to the past) but I sure wish there were some Oldies. Hank
