  1. Merle I see the 2 pics of the same twice...lol I thought he was going to post other pics...lol
  2. Not from here in Manitoba Canada
  3. Well try it with the 1 mb pics and reduce to smallest size. Or edit pics and make smaller. If i were there I would show yah..
  4. Swap to what a Chyrsler Flathead 6? I'll have a look. Well in all honesty Plymouthy Adams included other transmission options in this thread, not me. I just as well preferred he kept it to thread trans topic. But I gather you or Plymmy have never done the A833 swap to flathead 6?
  5. Just reduce the pic sizes. Send yourself an email and reduce attached pics then save them and upload on this thread
  6. I see so your NV 3500 would be with a V6 or V8 then not a flattie? Kool, just wondering why you mentioned other 5 spds to a flattie swap. Everyone and there dog at shows and meets has a SBC under the hood, now I will say not so many Mopar V6 or V8s in comparison , they are about as boring as it gets. Old flatheads, are far more in the Kool factor over a V6 hands down...lol mind you just my opinion. Im not adding anymore garble on this, sorry Fargone back to your topic.
  7. Care to start a thread on the NV3500 trans conversion to Chyrsler flattie? Have not seen any documentation on this conversion on here or elsewhere that I recall. Have you seen this swap completed by anyone on your locale and travels?
  8. From which year of Jeeps Tim. Willys, AMC or The Chrysler Corp...lol Can you make a suggestion for a contemporary Jeep 5spd trans to adapt to the flattie? I haven't seen any to date but am curious.
  9. Which later 5 spds? Pretty darn hard to beat a robust A833 Chrysler built trans. Cars and trucks have different tailshafts yes, but shifter location is on 2 different boss mounts. The 1 closer to the tailshaft for vans is one configuration. Tim I dont believe Fargone is overly interested in Jeep electronics, 5 spds and/or V6 and V8 conversions I will include T5 conversions too...lol The overdrive and gear spread on the A833 will do well with 3.73 rear gears. Great for a 3.08 1st and the .71 and .73 overdrive gears. And you know what Tim its a Mopar trans for a Mopar engine and truck...
  10. Have you bolted up the A833 yet? Does the bearing retainer fit with your truck bell? Or have you not mocked it up yet?
  11. How bout a fuel return line to the gas tank, bet that would take care of it. Seepage off another welch plug geesh replace em all and be thankful its not the rear plug Jim aka Squirrel on the HAMB drove his beater 51 Hudson to speedweek from Phoenix then onto the Lemons race and he took 1st place and it was super hot like your area. Your car has had heat issues runnin highway speeds in hot weather many times before as reported by its former owner. Not so untypical of these engines I bet return fuel line might help..
  12. Why are you yelling? Im younger but near 60 so not a spring chicken but in good physical shape. At your age nothing is that urgent and important as it once seemed to be. Im getting into that category too. Over 80 each day is a gift and if you like workin up a sweat thats okay, as a lot of folks your age took the dirt nap years ago. We all cant be Gene Winfields
  13. Old retired guy like you should wait for kooler weather. At your age and stage of life is there some urgency....lol
  14. 2 litre pop bottle...lol Just go direct off fuel pump or gravity to or from a red plastic jerry can. Heck I drove my old 47 Chrysler like that for 1 summer...lol
  15. Jim aka Squirrel on the HAMB Hudson adventure, enjoy https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/the-hudson-adventure.1160465/
  16. Pre 1971, and very optimistic I would say.
  17. 2 different engines? Both stamping look so crooked, possibly from an engine rebuilder, they would stamp on new numbers sometimes for their customers.
  18. Hey all, watched a very recently uploaded You Tube vid, on a complete rebuild and dyno, of a 225 Chrysler Slant 6. it was professionally done, so not some backyard home video, made on someones I phone. So engine was rebuilt, .040 pistons, .010 crank, hotter cam, but nothing too wild, Offenhausre 4 bbl intake, Edlebrock 500 CFM 4 BBl carb, and Hooker Headers. This engine was installed into a 1971 Duster with an A904 trans. this engine, dynoed at 135-140 hp to the rear wheels, not bad, for a stock build and auto trans. Old well worn 225 engine dynoed at 70 hp, pretty dead... I recall Greg G, stating he was able to get 127 hp to the rear wheels, with a basically a stock rebuild. Anyone else have any dyno numbers on their Slant 6s or Chrysler flathead 6s.
  19. Nothing like Autolite technology and quality Reg. I kinda like a 6v starter on 12, it spins faster than a 12 volt starter....
  20. Hey all, had to pull my 12 volt starter for servicing, but installed a spare 6 volt starter temporarily. It spins nice and fast, and no meshing issues. How many of you have a run a 6 volt starter on 12 volt diet? Hopefully wont run it too long like this, but its not bad at all.
  21. Yes enjoyed 48dodgers story too. Even a seriously hopped up 265 is gonna fall short against a hopped up Hemi or as mentioned a hopped up LA 318. Much easier to conjure up 300 hp with an LA 318 than squeezin out 200 hp with a flattie. Much the same with the Ford Flathead V8 engine. Big big bucks to create 300 hp, simple and cheap with a 5 litre or a 351. All engines are sophisticated air pumps. Breath in deep, breath out with ease. Our beloved flatties are a bit asthmatic but have well balanced long stroke systems to make good torque. These flatties with turbo or blowers would really wake them up. Look at a stock slant 6, great engine rugged bottom end bearings, forged cranks and rods well balanced. An overhead valve design with better potential for natural aspiration than a flattie. But still in stock form they are asthmatic. But add a 2 bbl, headers and cam and just with that they come alive. Some of my friends think a hopped 265 might be better than a mildly warmed up 225 for a truck like mine. Im not so sure on that...lol
  22. Here is a pic of a Holley 1920 1 bbl carb on my Slant 6. Note the phenolic spacer. Could it be the answer for the flatheads hot carb issues? In my Slant 6 vehicles never ever noticed an issue starting in suoer hot weather with hot engine and high underhood temps.
  23. No I agree against a healthy V8 apples to oranges. And yes these engines in pure stock form are like big lawn mower engines. But, a hopped up 230 or 265 shpuld be night and day. To qualify my statement, I dont mean just buying dual carbs and exhaust im talking built engine, custom pistons, much hotter cam profiles, High Comp Head etc. The difference between a built flattie abd a basic stocker should be huge. But they aint a built Hemi or even a hopped up LA 318..
