  1. update: I rebuilt my 230 flathead six, installed a George Asche 1939 Plymouth 3 speed with overdrive that kept the shifter in the stock location. , and custom built a long 90 degree bar that worked with the stock E-Brake.
  2. my understanding is I will have access to all machines for 3 months during this class. I also will be continuing the class for the advanced sessions so I will be in deep in the engine world for about 6-9 months. but a good place to buy engine parts with good prices are what is needed. my plan so far is to just rebuild, but if its cheaper or same price to bore and stroke a bit, I may do that too.
  3. i am rebuilding the engine myself, I will need to source the parts in about 3 weeks as I am taking an engine building class at the local community college and will be building the flat 6 in the class. I am not new to engine building, just want to get certified and figure it would be fun to do in the class. that being said, I need to find good quality parts to replace the old. the car has 36k miles on it, but the engine I am not sure how many miles are on it so my plan is to crack it open and take inventory and decide what needs to be replaced (probably everything)
  4. Where is the best place to purchase an engine rebuild kit for a Dodge 230 Flathead 6 1953 block? not looking to stroke the engine, just want to refresh / re seal
  5. I need to find 1933 DODGE AXLE FLANGE GASKET's however, they are hard to find NOS gaskets, so I want to make my own. does anyone have suggestions on what material to use to make my own Gasket? Summit Racing said FELPRO FEL-2499 will work, but I don't really trust their judgement.
  6. Good morning everyone, I have the rear end out of my 33 dodge. It leaks on both ends and the center, I do not think the rear end has to be fully rebuilt as it spin's smooth. however it does need new gaskets to stop the leaks. any tips on if I should just bite the bullet and rebuild it, or just take it apart, put new gaskets on and reinstall?
  7. 1933 DODGE DP 6 SEDAN WITH 1953 DODGE 230 ENGINE, STOCK 3 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION AND MANUAL SPEDO.
  8. I am in search of a Borg Warner R10 Overdrive but I am not sure what EXACTLY what I am looking for. reason: my vehicle has a Mechanical Speedo, E-Brake on the passenger side, and shifter on top middle of 3 speed I believe. anyone have ideas what exactly I need to search for? I have found a few on E-bay for $1000 up to $2500 and am not sure if they will work. I see some pressure switch's on some with two electrical ports and am not sure what those are for on the Tranny. thanks for the insight.
  9. FOR THE 33, What would the gear ratio need to be with a Flathead 6 230ci engine and 3 speed?
  10. I am going to swap out my rear end and drive line, I am trying to figure out what rear end will work, I believe someone a while back told me a 97 jeep cherokee will work. vehicle is a 1933 Dodge DP 6 4 door sedan. flathead 6 engine, 3 speed manual. I will be swapping out the rear end and the drive line to work with tranny

  13. he set up an R&P on a non power steering vehicle. is that possible? not sure how that would work. but sounds great. the power steering idea I have thought about, talked to a shop and they saiad they can do it, but never called back with a price. at this point, I just want the stock steering to work before I go modifying things like crazy otherwise, I might as well full customer the whole dang car. so the steering was not bad, it just needs to be adjusted and I am not the best at figuring that out. we tried to adjust it but there was no room to adjust. guess I will be sending it back in next week for the 3rd rebuild. shitty situation, should have just left it alone.
  14. yes 33 has tube axle and leaf springs.
