  1. Hi all, We've rebuilt the 218 in my 54 Cranbrook. It was going fine but in the last day it has started backfiring and then stalling - the fuel pump is new so I don't think that's the issue. Any ideas on what might be causing this or where I should start looking? Also we replaced the clutch at the same time. The rear main seal had been leaking for god knows how long and causing the clutch to slip - but it found the gears easy enough. Since replacing the clutch assembly getting the car into gear has been an absolute nightmare. Getting into first is not a problem but then trying to get into second is near on impossible, and same from second to third. My mate helped with the car - he basically did it all and I paid him - so I don't want to go back to him and say he's stuffed anything up. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  2. We had the hottest day on record in my home town last week...... 46.2° C (about 115° Fahrenheit)
  3. Oh you’re an Aussie too.... yeah we’re on the right side mate ??
  4. Aren’t you on the ‘left’ side of the car? ?
  5. I kinda feel the same way about you guys ....
  6. Mine is starting to become a bit of a daily driver video-1548966470.mp4
  7. Thanks Don, I'm hopeful that is all the issue is and it's a relatively quick and inexpensive repair
  8. Did this rebuild actually start 5 years ago??
  9. Thanks Dave...... i pulled mine out and it's pretty much the same. I'm not 100% sure what the issue is but it has the same sort of smell as the old scalectrix race car tracks - so I'm tipping it's the bushes. Thanks for your reply mate - very helpful
  10. Hi All, Does anyone know the original part number for the 12v Starter motor. Mine is the Australian version so may be different to the US model. Mine has died so I'm on the lookout for a replacement or any suggestions to get the current one back up and running. Thanks
  11. I'd love to be driving mine - unfortunately the mechanic is a useless fool and this was the last time I saw her 3 days ago with no updates since
  12. Thanks for your replies.... it gives me some very good starting points
  13. Hi All, I've got all the brake parts I need and will be giving them an overhaul with the help of a friend next weekend. One other issue we've noticed is the battery is keeping the car going when the generator should be charging it - at least I think that's what's supposed to happen. It's had a 12v conversion and the car has an original kill switch that definitely works but I don't think that is the issue. Has anyone had this issue or know what I should be checking to work out what the issue is? Thanks
  14. Thanks, at least I can look for similar parts now
