  1. You probably won't need those fuzzy dice. I can take them off your hand and put 'em in my truck?
  2. Good on ya mate. I new your big day was coming but still took me by surprise. I have yet to mail the gift I bought you. Do I have your address?
  3. Best of luck and of course we'll want to see the before and after photos.
  4. Ha! I tried to follow in Paul's footsteps but ended up defeated. I discovered the entire leaf pack would have to be removed to get the centering bolt pushed through. The thought of struggling with the bushings in the fore and aft hangers scared me off. Having read so many threads where folks get stuck at those points I thought better of it. That nut at the top is not coming off unless I take a cutoff disc to it. I found no way to push that drift up and out from the bottom. When I started I had no idea of how they were put together. I thought I could just remove the u bolts and slide one out ? If I can get access to a press, I may revisit this idea. BTW I've heard one can get and insert teflon strips between the leaf's too.
  5. No growlers, no stickers and beer in cans! I argued my case for beer in bottles and only got a pint in a cold glass. There are two large successful micro brews here in town; Odells and New Belgium. The wife and I toured both and in both they tout the advantages of cans - fresher taste, better storage and you can stack 'em up to fit more in your fridge or chest. But don't we all know they are just trying to save a buck on shipping? New Belgium is pretty wide spread these days. If you like IPA you just may be amazed. Here's my favorite...
  6. Yeah, Clements was on my to do list, but I ended up sending my stand-in. - not the same I know! Keep us posted on your trip out east. Perhaps we could meetup?!
  7. Y'all are saying these shows are right up there with "fake news"?
  8. Only five miles down the road to the GoodGuys show and since the rust and coat hanger were doing such a great job of holding my shock absorber on for the time being I drove on over and signed Roxanne and myself up. This made our second car show together - I don't think she'll want to do another. Rox is used to getting more attention. She just wasn't pretty enough for this one ?? The '78, and '49 Ferd trucks close by had twice the gawkers and the Bricklin had double and triple that at times. Must have been those gull wing doors. Big show with a dizzying array of vehicles and more. It took a couple hours to cruise through the cars, vendors and swap meet. Their mini race track was as amazin' as the carmel corn. Some skilled drivers putting on a show for bragging rights driving all kinds of muscle, sport, street and custom machines. Thar warn't a whole lotta Dodgin' going on... I saw maybe four altogether. This Power Wagon would have been cool (in my book) had it not been for the giant V-8 race engine stuffed under the hood. There was a Coronet convertible that was stellar and a Plymouth truck that was eye candy (but seriously, leather bucket seats?) I will definitely go again, but will likely leave Rox Baby at home, at least until she gets painted up a bit better - uh, if that ever happens. I didn't go crazy with the camera but here are a few more random shots. https://photos.app.goo.gl/PQeW3vcbJCMMBfPz8
  9. LOL - Yes, I am drooling over the ones posted above. If anybody is interested, here is a coupon code to save $10.00 at Speedway: VHJ9-K44R I had to give away my phone number and email to get that, and I still couldn't use it!
  10. Thanks Plymouthy, that pic is from the local wrecking yard. I got the inner nut off and thought the stud would tap out. Didn't happen and I don't want to break something trying to make it happen. I was going to take mine off the truck and pound on it since it is already broken The wrecking yard part is pretty pitted where the shock would mount. Are you saying I should be able to pound that out of the bracket and find a replacement at Napa or somewhere else?
  11. Yeah, I just realized this too. I thought I'd see if anybody could give me advice on the driver's side rear shock mount stud and holding plate, but figured it would just get ignored. Back to Facebook for this one, though not as smart as this group, right? https://www.facebook.com/flashbuddy
  12. @classiccarjack “My neighbor has created "code" issues for me. I hope that I don't have to send it to the crusher. Sigh...” Can you send your neighbor to the crusher?
  13. Nope, wish I did. I secretly lust after these. Shhhh...
  14. You should delete that photo, the go find a better place to park and take another one?
  15. On a recent trip to the local salvage yard, I met an attractive young woman while encouraging my son to keep trying as he struggled with the '48 radio removal. Her husband was off in search of old Chevy pickups so she hung with us and we had a nice chat. A short time later her husband showed up and took note of my son's struggle with the radio, grabbed a wrench and leaned in to lend a hand. Out comes the radio. This guy and I get to talking about our war service of all things and end up exchanging phone numbers. A couple days later I get a text invite from the guy to meet at a new restaurant in town for beer and burgers. He graciously chose "The Red Truck", the newest Fort Collins brewpub. The place was packed! My wife had me get in the beer line while she held down an open table. The six of us (they brought two of their three kids and one in the oven) had a chatty meal and I knew I had made a new friend. Yesterday morning, when my son Zac arrived for another run to the junkyard, I mentioned how his mom and I had dinner with the couple we had met a week earlier in the junkyard. He was dumbfounded. I asked him about his friends and when was the last time he had made a new one. I have a few good friends, most spread around the country from California to Wisconsin. I haven't met any new "real" friends in years. The moral of the story and point I wanted to impress upon my son was to not pass up on your opportunities nor rush to judgement and junkyard can offer more than car parts? My wife Jan with her good friend Barb
  16. A couple nights in Nashville, good call. Rascal Flats is playing Tuesday at the Grand ‘ol Opry?
  17. Thanks! I think I got it right and I've got them baking in the back of my truck under the black tonneau cover - a real oven in there when its 90+ degrees outside. I found a set of 215/75R16 tires at Pep Boys locally at ~$78/tire. I also found that two wheels are half inch wider than the others. Seems nothing can be simple about this
  18. Holy crap did I learn a lot about paint and painting. Turned out to be way more effort than I had anticipated. Went to the tire store store and came home empty handed and confused. They wouldn't sell me 215 60 R16 - won"t handle the load. I don't want a tall 70, 75 or 80 load handling beast of a tire. I like the idea of a tire that is not tall. Trying g to keep the height of the truck down as much as I can without resorting to a change in suspension. On a bright note, O'Reilly's had a set of Monroe shocks that will fit the truck. Though they are blue?! I'll rattle can them black while I try to come up with a tire solution. So here I am with refreshed wheels, hubcaps and new shocks but no tires. My girl needs to get out of the garage and stretch her legs; show off some new shoes.
  19. I took off a couple shocks today in preparation for replacement. It seems one may have been missing a washer, but I'm not sure. Are there supposed to be one on each side of the bushings for both top and bottom mounts, front and rear?
  20. I see a "made in Colorado" Croc shoe in the photo; you can't be "all" bad. ?
