  5. Still have to finish off the back behind the seatbelt bracket bar and the vertical part of the bench pedestal. Then on to the hard part making the removable trans tunnel/motor hump

  6. My nice upholstery has been mocked up in my cab since before christmas. For some reason my wife thought it looked better in there than in the dining room for holiday guests? I stashed the bench inside this morning so I could get to work on my floor. Farmer had me inspired to do a good job and use the biggest pieces I could cut for less welding and seams. Last night I hit wally world after midnight with all the other wierdos and bought two packs of posterboard. I like measuring but I am a bigger fan of tape and scissors for all the complex shapes. I have this little 110 plasma cutter with an onboard compressor that is awesome for sheetmetal. It’s kinda slow but I like it better than a grinder or beverly shear for a lot of jobs- more accurate & less distortion. Anyway, it’s coming along. Hopefully we have a nice cold day soon so I can peel up that nasty dynamat without too much neverending asphalt/rubber goo problems so I can weld to the passenger toe area.

  7. Dodge started to disappear from Ram trucks by the time Daimler had thoroughly run Chrysler into the ditch, somewhere around 2006...by then, Plymouth was gone, Jeep and Dodge Truck were still making money, Chrysler and Dodge cars were seriously lacking in many areas with the few bright spots being Charger, 300 and minivans (PT Cruiser suffered from a weak powertrain)...if not for Cerebus, Daimler was planning on selling Jeep and Dodge Truck to the highest bidder and letting Chrysler and Dodge cars fade into history just like Plymouth...Cerebus attempted to fix what Daimler botched, but then the economy tanked, and Cerebus was ready to complete Daimler's strategy, but no one had the cash to buy any car brand that was seriously lacking in development... Fiat wanted to have a global truck brand for marketing purposes (think GMC), so Dodge and Ram were officially separated in 2009...I get a little irritated when I see the Ram medallion on a tailgate and RAM on the grille, it's totes bass-ackwards...and when I saw T-shirts for sale at a local Dodge dealer with a '48-'50 Dodge truck on it where the Dodge logos were gone but the shirt had RAM above the truck, I said something to the parts guy about that, he chuckled and said "yeah, nobody is buying those things, but ppl sure are pointing that out"...I was hoping Dodge would bring back the fratzog, the current slanted red bars is lame-o

  8. Correct, there is a red top in the pic. That one belongs to my car hauler friend. I sure eyeballed it when I was getting the car ready to drive off the trailer that day, however with luck on that hot summer's day, the original battery took a charge and the car started, setting up a smoke screen that would impress Bat Man.

  10. I would think the p/n's that I provided in an earlier post would be correct then. I wasn't sure if your's was a H or J series. Mine is a JA (2 speed rear) but I would imagine everything else in the axle housing except for maybe the axle shafts themselves would be the same. FYI-my overhauled brakes with the original vacuum booster are WAY more brakes than are needed for the truck's current mission. They're much more effective than those on my B2D 1 ton. Mike

  13. You can adjust the M/C push rod for the proper amount of free play. I wouldn’t recommend putting a stop on the pedal to lower its ‘at rest’ position.

  15. you need steel core wires. try a new condenser. china stuff can be bad even new. 118 lbs of compression is like a new engine. check the dist. lead wire to the points. the insulation can wear off from the dist. plate moving when you accelerate. capt den

  18. I have sodium valves in my 265 PU....never an issue for many years. I have them in a couple other trucks too..heavy duty service. The only way to go regardless of todays fuel IMO.

  19. Made a little more progress on firewall/floorboards. The sides by the doors were a bit rusty as well as the front cab mounts. So I sort of rebuilt the cab mounts I cut all the rust I could out, but went over top of some. I know its not right but whatever.

  21. I prefer RI Wire and have installed several of their harnesses. All were spot on. I buy all my cloth wiring and terminals from them as I make up factory correct harnesses too.

  23. Quick dark oil, to me may be an indication of an excessive amount of exhaust gasses getting into to the crank case. Black sooty stuff. This could indeed be an indication of worn piston rings. Also this could be caused by excessive valve lash or worn valve guides. A compression test will take out some variables for sure. I would do both a dry and wet compression test. Meaning put a few drops of oil into a cylinder, then test. Could the white puff of smoke coming from under the car be burning coolant? That could mean maybe a bad head gasket or a cracked cylinder head or block. Are you monitoring your coolant level? Losing any? Is your crank case oil level growing at all up the dip stick tube over time? Perhaps consider taking an oil sample and taking it to a lab for analysis. They can tell you if there is coolant or excessive soot and oxidation in your oil. A quick easy place is to go to your local heavy Duty Caterpillar equipment dealer. Buy 1 SOS Oil sample kit. Take it home, take a proper sample, fill out the form and bring it back to the CAT dealer. A few days later you'll get the results. Probably will cost $12-$15 US dollars. If you do this, message me about how to properly take a sample so results are not skewed.

  26. That's a beauty Dutch. Are you refilling the transmission or the fluid coupling ? The trans should use regular 90 weight and the fluid coupeling uses universal tractor fluid I believe. It it an eBay find ?
