  2. First ride of 2019! It is unusually warm today in Massachusetts, 52 deg. and heavy rain last night washed the salt off of the roads; so i woke up the Dodge and took a short ride. great way to start the New Year.

  7. When I have a file that's too large to email I've had good luck using We Transfer. It's a web site that allows you to transfer larger files for free, up to 2 GB. Go to https://wetransfer.com/ and select the "Free" option. Upload your file and enter the email address to where you wish to send it. You can also add a message to your recipient. I usually also send an email directly to the person to let them know that when they see an email from We Transfer that it is not spam, and it is indeed safe, and it will contain a download link to the file I am sending to them.

  8. I think I was in bed around 9:30. My wife stayed up, as she wasn't tired and was working on a crochet project. She came to bed shortly after midnight. I woke up when she crawled into bed and said "Happy New Year", then I fell asleep again. It's just another night for me. I don't care about the celebrations.

  9. Ok ill do my best here. As you can see the rise in the floor where the seat mounts is straight and square, so i cut the old floor out on that straight line. I think the secret is to start out square, its like building a house, if your first wall starts off out of square, the whole house ends up crooked. So all my measurements were from that cut line, there was a lot of measuring, so i drew my panels in cad and cut them on my plasma table. There is an advantage to that because if its drawn square its cut square. What it came down to was if i measured right and drew it right, it fit right. And, by luck mostly, everything fit really well. I did do some trimming with a cutoff disc, but really not much. Welding 16 and 14 ga is really forgiving, i just did series of spots, keep in one spot until puddle forms and both edges melt together well, and stop, let cool for a sec move ahead repeat, a thousand times. The rear hump, i rolled in my homebuilt roller, then squished the back end flat in the brake, thats it thats all, it took about 5-10 min. Luck mostly. The toe angle is roughly stock angle, mainly to keep it simple, and also there could be clearance issues with front tire, when turning left, if i pushed it too far ahead. My brake pedal is the dakota master cylinder and pedal. The pedal sticks out more than id like, but would be drivable, right now i can push pedal full stroke and not hit floor, with room to spare, so i might have some room to play with pedal arm and get pedal a bit farther forward. As far as the cowl part of the firewall, there is a factory recess that angles in towards the cab, i went straight down from that, but wider. The firewall basically is in same location, but boxed out wider in the center. If you want I'll post some better pics of that area. I'll also post a pic of my roller and brake if you want. Nothing fancy, really simple. This is the time I've ever attempted anything like this, and there are days when ive thought id bitten off way more than i should've, it seems easy in my head, but in actuality , its a very difficult puzzle, with some pieces missing!! Oh and the vintage race on the beach......give me more time, i need a bigger cam and a better intake for starters

  10. It can be hard to check a U-joint with the shaft installed and loaded. I'd remove the driveshaft... open each end up and look for gouging wear in each of the Detroit Ball and Trunnion bell housings.

  11. I think id try and get the bracket closer to the rear, so the splitter could be mounted on the axle tube. Rather than mount it near the pinion. It looks like there is room beside your airbag where the old vent, or splitter bolt is? Could you run a brace between the upper shock crossmember and the one in front of it, mount it front to rear, as a place for the hose bracket to mount to? Just to get that hose bracket closer to axle tube. Hard to tell from here

  12. We did....went to bed at our regular time, got up and drove to the coast. Traffic was lite and the company of my bride was awesome. Even caught a glimpse of sunset colors bounce back at us from our local hill on the way home What a way to bring in the new year for me!

  15. Today was interesting...the night before they got two cars stuck in the yard at my neighbors house. We are in saturation as far as rainfall goes.....the one asked me to pull him out.....I declined saying there would be no way I could get traction even if I had four wheel drive. Today, I listened to a lot of engine revving....tires spinning....etc etc...look across the street we now have three four wheel drive trucks buried to their axle and they backing a jeep in for number four.....the jeep got the last truck out and they together was able to get the other truck out leaving one buried. Well, 30 minutes later and that truck is again buried to the axles in the yard trying again to get the other truck out. At last a tow truck shows up...using a winch and block was able to pull both trucks out as the same time as they were not able to disconnect the taunt line between them. The one black truck decided to turn around and leave when he again gets stuck...what are they smoking I ask....always fun to be had in Elko...….this New Years day was no exception. I wonder how long them ruts will be seen?

  16. The pinched tube towards the firewall on the intake manifold is the port for the vacuum wiper motor, where a rubber hose would go up thru the firewall to the wiper motor. As for your horn button, the 3-eared brass plate locks into the collar, with a compression spring on the steering wheel that keeps that plate in place; the wire and Bakelite feed thru the hole in the brass, not under it

  17. item left, jury rigged knob for loosening the air cleaner from the carb mouth... far right, Sissions Choke center looks to be a mod to the base for a vacuum source

  18. Happy New Year to all. Did anyone else go to bed at their regular time like we did at my house? I'm so "over" going out on New Year's Eve; just not entertaining to me like it once was, "back in the day". LOL ?

  21. The master cylinder they sent you is a late 60s early 70s mustang master cylinder. It has two reservoirs. One for the drum brakes in the rear and one for the disk in the front. the steel plate you have there should mount into the holes where your original master cylinder mounts and the new master cylinder will mount to the plate. now that I look at it, they MAY have sent you the wrong adapter plate. Mark at ECI has been very accommodating and willing to work with me when I had a question or an issue. i was missing a few pieces and he sent them out right away. mine looks like this picture here. the three holes in the bracket fit into the three holes that hold the original master. This is kind of what the whole set up should look like

  22. What I discovered when I installed a new 3 core aluminum radiator was that the cooling efficiency of the new radiator was much greater than the original honeycomb radiator. Adding a pressurized cap will also increase the boiling point of a liquid but the increased efficiency of the new radiator even running a 180 degree thermostat never allowed the radiator to boil over. I also eliminated the belt driven cooling fan and used a thermostatically controlled electric pusher fan. One downfall of converting to a pressurized system is the welsh plugs are not designed for a pressurized system. I personally did not have a welsh plug failure but the possibility is there.

  23. I remember vaguely searching for some red translucent tail-light lens replacement to legalize a beater. The rubber-banded cellophane from the ends of a bunch of bananas worked for me. Here is a period correct badge/topper mounted on my firewall. Another pair found their home on some preexisting holes in my radiator brackets. None are stamped 'Ram' but better define 'Me'. Radarwheel's egg-crate addition to his red lens turns improv to an art form, 5 stars! As I imagine it, a 1/2" grid would project thru. the plex.

  24. I thought the anger badges were cool but the last time my buddy owned our truck he took them off immediately- it’s a slippery slope- first silly badges then a mexican blanket seat cover, next thing you know you got a chevy engine and you’re welding circular saw blades to everything and airbrushing skulls under your fake patina...
