  1. Didn't have anything going on today so decided to run in to a small car show - about 50 cars. The Old Whale got into the Top 10. Heck, I was happy they didn't make me remove it from the lot! About 75 mile round trip. No issues. Celebrated with a pint at a local brewery on the way home.

  2. I had someone else sand blast the frame - a friend needed a couple of cars blasted so we went into together and shared the cost. It was a portable unit and really did the trick. It did take quite a bit of tipping and banging on the frame to get the sand out when done. Today was put on the Cab day and several of my nice neighbors came over and we lifted it up and over the stick shift and into place. Went well and the many hands (10) made it a lot easier!

  3. Your painted engine looks awesome! I like john deere blitz black chassis paint out of a paint gun with hardener but I spray it out of the can too.

  4. I sandblasted my frame and used por-15 and it has bonded well with the metal. No peeling or flaking. On the engine I used por-15 engine enamel and so far it has proved to be good. Just my experience.

  5. Picked up this sweet D24 a month ago. Prepped her for shipping to our garage in Rotterdam Netherlands this morning. She’ll make someone in the EU real happy. But before that I had to make the opportunity to get a P15-D24 shot happen. Next week Greg G and and I, together with our wives are off to the P15 picnic, so I just had to get some drive time in.

  7. Howdy, Andy. Oh, I'd love to do as much of the stuff as possible by myself. When I had space, I often did. But I'm in Brooklyn now, where one can scarcely find street parking in front of one's own apartment - let alone lot, driveway, or garage. I don't think there are any clubs around here. If there are, they are unlikely to have space. If they do, using that space would be as expensive as paying somebody to do the work. So you see how we are back at square one. This is the second time I've been welcomed to Oz, btw. Lived in Perth for a year long ago. Still eat Vegemite/cheese sandwiches, though. ; ) Thank you.

  8. I ran the Eaton 1350 2 speed mentioned above for 10 years all around Seattle hauling loads here and there.. 55 was about tops but with vacuum shift it was a gas to drive and fun with the fast axle shifts! Single speed axle....................boring... slow down a couple impatient drivers... too bad.

  9. there is no exchange of water to the head from the block via the head bolts...the bolts go into the block and enter the water jacket..thus the need for sealant and the relief is for purpose of any by pass creating rust and seizing bolt to head as a result...

  10. HI all, After owning my '39 Plymouth for a couple of years, I recently removed and cleaned the filter canister. After cleaning off the exterior grunge I noticed a faint stamping on the side that said "inlet." It had the pressure side plumbed to the canister outlet and vice versa. It had probably run that way for years. The oil always seemed to look dirty much sooner than it should have and there was a bunch of sludge in the bottom of the canister. I replumbed it correctly, but in a new filter element, and changed the oil. Just returned from a multi-hundred mile trip to Maine. Used about 3 ounces of oil and it still looks new on the dipstick.
