  1. "figure out the codes enforcement, either get in spec or know the loopholes well." I agree, learn the codes and use them as best you can. Find out if you can raise hogs and pen them on his side of your property. Chickens too with an early morning rooster. Another option is to have weekend B-B Q's with the local Harley enthusiasts. During the week too, what the heck. You could also start a heavy metal band and practice in the garage or better, a shed near his property line. Do you plat the trombone? Might be time to start. Oh, get some security cameras and aim them at yours and his property line.

  2. You ain't going to want to hear this, but with a basically stock street engine 2 2brl carbs flow too much gas for a 218. I suspect if you got the adapters and switched to 2 1brl carbs that your problem of flooding would go away.

  3. If you have purchased a disc brake kit from him he offers the best technical advice on how to install it. If you are trying to build your own disc brake setup and need information about his kit it is doubtful he will respond.

  4. Just keep the religious radio channel going so he can always hear it-not too loud though. Don't do anything to tick him off (except the radio) and be a good law abiding citizen.

  5. I miss the days of settling things fist to face..........sadly enough those days are long gone and no longer socially acceptable.

  6. Howdy! I just bought a 1947 WD-21 one ton single wheel w/flatbed. I believe the flathead is the 218. The door tag says 80hp. I saw the ad in our local paper for $400. It was only 3 miles away. I knew I would buy it if I went & looked. After 3 days, I couldn't resist. Now it's mine. They bought it back in the 70's to use on the farm. It got parked about '95 and they just used it to grind corn in the bed. It is in fairly good condition other than a stuck engine. I took the head off & cyl 2 & 4 have some rust. Been soaking for few days. Should have it free today & hopefully running. I'm not familiar with pre '60 Dodges, so I had fun looking her over & comparing to my Chevys. Better location of brake master & tube shocks were a couple things. Chevy had the master under floor & had knee action til '50. Interested to see what type of brakes this has. Huck or Bendix? Looks like the windshield opens out? The plan is to get her running & drive it since I got the title. One cool thing...I knew this truck wanted to come home with me. The tires aired up & the brackets for my tow bar bolted up perfect to the bumper bolts. Easiest tow ever!

  8. Well to start with the easy stuff, it’s made by Bombardier in Quebec Canada. Unsure of age, but made about late 50’s. Called a J5 and built for use in the forestry business in the remote bush, hauling logs. Lots around over the years, ended up just about everywhere except apparently in Oz… This early model has a 3 speed manual trans, basically an automotive setup ie small driveshaft to diff with a wet brake on each side. Ive been told actually dodge components but I cant confirm. I found it in Northern Ontario and dragged it out of an old hunt camp. They were also built for plowing snow with a cab or single covered cockpit(which mine is missing). They were also used a lot in the bush before ATV days. Yes I did not light her on fire burning the hole…yet. Decided to pick up a cheap offshore plasma cutter to tackle the 41 coupe project. Worked great to get the oil pump out, just slide a plate down inside. Probably also helped that everything is still bloody frozen here. And Andy, if your ever here in the Great White North, let me know and I’ll introduce you to ice fishing. Ice fishing licences come in a big cardboard box with 24 brown bottles inside. The more licences you have, the bigger fish you can catch. And we usually fillet them with a chainsaw.

  9. Engine still won't turn. Guess I'll let it soak more. I did get interior cleaned a little & opened vent & windshield. What is that little chrome circle above speedo? It's some kind of electrical switch.

  10. Back in the late '60s?early '70s, a trick with Slants was to put in a Truck cam, degree it 4 or 6deg up, get a Marine head, thin copper head gasket and the usual Clifford intake and Header. Super simple and Worked! A couple of friends back then had what were named 'Deputies' ! 225, 3 spd Challengers, both of them Red. I wish I had them both now! They hopped up one of them and lined up against the untouched one, which for some reason had been faster out the back door. Beat him by nearly two and a half cars! Needless to say, as soon as he saved up for the parts, they did his too! Memories from the Dusty corners of my mind!

  11. Also, as Jerry Roberts mentioned, the generator will not charge the battery at idle. Check your ammeter with the engine running at 750 rpm or higher. If it does, then your charging system is working normally.

  12. Keith, the first crank that you got was for a '66 and earlier 225. I ran into that back in the early '80's.

  13. DON’T give in and move like the other neighbors did. That just gives him more of an attitude. Form an alliance with all the neighbors and make sure he is aware of your strong willed togetherness and he will be the one that will be leaving. My guess he is just a little guy that is trying to make himself feel big. I knew a few of those guys in the past. Like someone else stated, to bad you can’t fix this with your fists.

  14. I hate neighbor issues, a good relationship with your neighbors is priceless. I'm blessed where I am now but I don't own the surrounding properties so it could change. You could handle it a hundred different ways. If you choose to make it a pisssin' contest you have to be prepared to piss the farthest at all costs. Some people have a lot of time to devote to the aggravation of others. I would figure out the codes enforcement, either get in spec or know the loopholes well. Ask others that have been through it in your area. Where I live there is a big difference when you live in the county and when you live in the city. You get by with a whole lot in the county. I know a guy that had several cars and codes enforcement cracked on him. The loophole he found was if they were current in registration and insurance they couldn't bother him. So he got antique tags on his parts cars, which is a one time permanent tag ( costs the same as a reg tag). He also got collector policy on them which was cheap ( limited mileage lol) . When in spec they couldn't bother him, said he would let the insurance policy lapse but if they asked again he would re-up it, the tags were forever. You might get to cover your vehicles under a farm policy. I would meet with the other neighbors and get all working together on this. He might decide he doesn't like the neighborhood as much as he thought. Stay within the law and use it to your advantage let him make the mistakes. Tree's, privacy fence, chain link fence may help. Make sure the fence is on your side of the line though. Might want to talk to a lawyer. Good luck with it.

  15. Maybe the ammeter wasn't changed when the car was converted to 12V. Easy way to check: Turn everything off in the car, shut the engine, then turn on headlights only and see if the dashboard ammeter goes to 'charge' or 'discharge'. If it goes to 'charge', you have a reversed connection someplace.

  16. You say it's been converted to 12 volts, is it a 12 volt generator? If so it might need polarizing, check your manual or do a forum search on the procedure.I've done it but it's been years, back when I had a generator on a Harley.

  17. Reminds me of my distant past . My dad would break down in his cab some where in metro St. Louis and get me out of bed at 2 in the morning. I'd bump that 66 Fury 3 of his 30 miles home with a tire lashed to the front of my Comet. Bump too hard ? No damage but the little white haired head in the car in front would jerk back! I couldn't hear him, but I knew the exact expletives coming out of his mouth. Words dads reserve only for their sons. But for that sole 30 minutes of the bump game, a 16 year old boy controlled his dad's 'everything'! We were a good team at it too.

  18. There might be a shop in your area that can test your generator for you . When you bring it in , bring your regulator too . Is there an amp gauge in your dashboard ? If you increase the engine RPM s the gauge should show a charging battery . If your battery is already fully charged the amp gauge would only show a very slight charging .

  19. Well, first of all, are you within the code restrictions for your property? If you are in compliance then there should only be one visit from those folks. Same with the sheriff's office. If you are in compliance then you should have nothing to worry about. If he escalates the problem, then consider a solution.

  22. A heat gun has worked well for me on several different plastics that needed some slight reshaping. Heat until pliable bend as needed cool and check to see if shape held. if not heat slightly more and try again. Easy does it. Sneak up to it!! DJ

  23. Your wife says; Turn on the red light....turn on the red light....turn on the red light....turn on the red light....you don't have to turn on the red light! No offense in any way and for punishment, that melody will be stuck in my head all day!

  24. looks nice but I do question a 53K mile car needing restoration. Any idea what all was done? If done right it's still worth the $
