  1. Here is what I did. I rewired the light itself as the sketch shows. The picture of the limit switch is kind of hidden, but it operates off the throttle rod. The brake switch turns on the brake lights, the red light in the traffic signal and pulls in the relay. This opens the normally closed contacts, thereby turning off the yellow(amber) light. If I remove my foot from the brake, the red light goes off and the yellow light turns on. If I push down on the gas pedal, the limit switch returns on turns the green light on. If I depress the gas and the brake, the brake light overrides the green light. Seems to work.

  2. Here is you real answer to your riddle: According to my MoPar streamliner catalog. The Desoto 1940 rear valance stone deflector is part number in 857053 and 858787. the 1940 plymouth is mopar nunmber 856933 and this is also for 1941 So your answer is NO for an interchange 1937-38 all four cars used the same valance. 3. A few pics from this evening's cruise. These darn cars make me eat so much ice cream. I wonder how many cones have been eaten in this car over the past 64 years? I was experimenting with my iPhone tonight taking some pics. You can get some groovy distorted looking images. Lots of fanatical waves and thumbs up tonight during my cruise route. I stopped for gas and a guy approached and said he loved the car. Could he take a few pictures? Of course, I replied. Thank you. I took her up several good hills tonight. Testing her for speed and watching the temp gauge. I hit my local hill in 3rd, pulled hard, shifted into 4th and pushed on up, hitting 50 MH. Speed limit was 30 MPH so I did not go any faster. She ran great. Great cars these old Chryslers.

  5. Hate to ask dumb questions but why not replace the valve guides instead of reaming and lining? About to have my engine overhauled by a shop, and I'm trying to learn what to look for.

  6. Final look at the intakes drying after their back cut. Think I'm done for the day.... not much else to do until the pistons get done (again...) and the crank comes back from the grinder.

  7. The door checks on my 39 Plym P8 conv cpe are a typical flat metal bar with a round rubber pad one end, open on the other with a 1/8" hole for the very stiff cotter pin. I looked all over for a source, finally ordered door checks for a 36 Ford from Bob Drake. had to shorten them down a bit and re-drill the hole for the pin. They worked great. I went to Drake because Ford and Chrysler used a lot of Briggs and Murray bodies. The deck lid seals, A & B pillar weather seals for the convertibles are the same, Ford & Chrysler 1936-41, maybe even later.

  8. I'd like you folks to meet Abby. She's never been in my car. @Worden18 it seems we have more than old Flat 6 Green Mopars in common. Abby is older now. Her young bouncing days are behind her. She'll be 12 next summer. She sits kinda on her RR leg these days. Great dogs, boxers. No pics with my dog in my Chrysler. She leaves hair everywhere she goes! On the car, not much new to share. 2 more weeks left on my insurance for the year. I plan to get a few more fall cruises in and then get to my planned winter car work projects.

  9. Somewhere years back is a thread from when I redid my dual heaters. My car didn't have the piping on it when I got it but I eventually found a setup in a junkyard off a Dodge. Original is steel but I did replace one piece of mine with copper and after I painted all the pipes to match no one has ever noticed.

  10. I am loving the original woodgraining on the garnish moldings, and if the upholstery and door panels up front are as nice as the ones in the rear, you are already a BUNCH of time and money ahead of the game when it comes to having a nice car. Nothing is cheap these days, and that goes for both upholstery and chrome.

  15. Excellent pictures. Regarding the special exhaust tool, was this designed to be used with the air hammer or was it used to install guides or both? And you indicated the video with the threaded rod procedure did not work for you.. Was this because guides were too tight? Bad news is, our numbers appear to of been ground off the boss, I read that this often happened if block was rebuilt?? One problem I am having is getting the valves to pop out of spring keeper cups. I will take a second look at the pad and make certain. Also will take pictures of engine and add to post. I have trouble posting pictures through google and have to use explorer, however when I click on my profile explorer closes the page for whatever reason in which I then have to log back in..So I will keep trying. Gentleman, I can't thank you enough for your help.
