  1. Last weekend I installed carpet and pad, and Friday night I got newly upholstered seats and installed them. While I was at it I also had to work on the clutch as the socket head cap screws that held the bearing retainer to the transmission were too tall and interfered with the clutch fork. I removed them and installed button head socket cap screws. They have a shorter profile, fixing the problem and gave full travel of the clutch pedal. Today I will install the seat belts and work on the door panels. I have some edge glued tongue and groove cedar I need to cut to size and finish. I ahm also going to bleed the brakes which I haven't done since I reworked the brake assembly. All that's left is the gas tank but I may fill the float bowl, start it up and give it a spin around the yard.

  4. I sent the Gauges off to B1B Keven a few week ago and recently got them back in tip top shape. They look as good as new! I have them installed. All I lacked on that was a fitting to the back of the oil gauge and thanks to Jerry Roberts for his help on obtaining that.

  5. "Fortunately cars are more reliable these days and cell phones negate the need for hitch-hiking. My 2012 Econoline has over 150k on it with nothing but oil changes and tire rotations and still on it's second set of tires." [aside]. when i parked my '87 T Bild, 5.0 EFI and sports suspension, it had 300,000+ miles, the only thing not OE was a new water pump. It still passed California smog, and consistently gave me 22 - 25 mpg. It was a great road car. Back to topic, electronic distributors

  7. Scroll to the bottom of billy bob's advice and in RED LETTERS it says quote, click on that and reply. There are 2 different gaskets one for internal bypass and one for external bypass make sure you have the right one.

  8. I’ve been told that porta-walls don’t work well with radial tires, due to their sidewalls flexing more than bias-ply tires. However, as I hate whitewalls, I have no first-hand experience. As for the brake fluid trick to clean whitewalls, extreme caution should be exercised with that. True—the brake fluid won’t harm the tire at all. However, when the brake fluid slings off of the tire and onto the paint—that’s an entirely different matter—the paint will be damaged dramatically. Words of experience on that one . . . .
