Most likely Ash. A beautiful wood to work with. Protected, it will withstand the elements pretty well. I'd love to have that Woodie too, Hank2 points

Please copy the photos rather than give links to other sites. I'm very tempted to move all your ". . . on the hamb" photo links to the external site referral area. Especially this one which you have as "for sale on the hamb" which clearly fits the external referral area's intended use.2 points

By way of introduction my name is Tom, I live in Devon South West UK and I own 3 Plymouth vehicles. Just purchased a PT 125 which crossed the pond a couple of months ago, it was advertised and only 70 miles from home so I bought it. Had been looking for this model for about a year but never in the UK always State side, only major parts it needs is a complete drive train and I am asking what are my choices to keep it as far as possible stock. Thanks for looking Tom1 point

I trust you have changed or at least checked the oil. After you're sure it's free, crank it with the starter until you get good oil pressure. Make certain you have clean fresh gas and go for it.1 point

Take out the spark plugs and turn it over by the fan. You may have to push on the belt if it slips.1 point

Ok....moving to a 6210 Holley spread bore (Q-jet replacement). I had an old race motor with a pair of 360 heads that are still good. So we'll be using those on a standard 318 short block. No piston upgrade, so low end torque is the motive. Its been a lot of moving motors around and tearing things apart and measuring to get where we are right now. Pulled the 440 off the best engine stand I had.....pushing threw several 318's and 360's on stands behind the shop.....putting some on pallets and the sort....lots of fun. lol. As we went threw the carbs I had, it seemed the 4160 was going to be a good fit, but I realized a spread bore with a bit of juice would be even better. So its being sent off to be rebuilt as opposed to me doing it as to save some time. The 360 heads are "dusty" so we'll be dropping them off to be cleaned up to start things off. Inventory of the brackets, pulleys for the PS, ALT, and water pump are done too. It was an AC motor so the pulleys had to changed along with the ALT bracket. 48D pic 1: 1968 440ci pic 2: 318 and 360 pic 3: 360 heads pic 4: short block 318 ready for final teardown pic 5: the pile of cr*p that is just getting bigger...lol1 point

I certainly have the bell housing and possibly many of the other parts you need BUT shipping from Western Canada may be prohibitive. It should be quite easy to convert your truck to right hand steering as they were built that way for export. If you can get a 4 speed box from 53 or newer, they were synchronized in 2,3,and 4th gear and are a lot easier to drive. I installed one in a 46 One ton and needed to change only the clutch disc. I am the tech advisor for the Plymouth Owners Club for 1950 and my contact info can be obtained there should you need it.1 point

You've already got a car that half the people on this board only wish they had. You could probably get in the $10-$11k range for it, then start with a clean slate if you just don't like it. I would guess your tops for the motor would be optimistically $1000, probably less. Overdrive, $700. I'm no appraiser, and I'd welcome more opinions, but looking at a lot of stuff for sale, those are my guesses. Figure those #s (or better ones if someone chimes in) and do the math on replacements and see if it's worth it. I'm going to throw out a couple radical ideas now. 1. Tell us what you don't like about what you have and look for solutions. For example, Want an automatic? How about a fluid drive in front of a 3 speed overdrive? 2. Why not another car? Not a replacement, get a second one. It is legal. Lots of us have done it. I love driving my 1924 Dodge Brothers, but in Dallas traffic? No way. High powered T bucket can handle it, though!1 point
