  1. It took a while, but the new Haartz canvas top is now on. Thanks to my upholstery man Larry, who had to actually do certain finishing work on the top. And, he also made a new boot. He's the same guy who installed my last top and boot a few years ago. Which was still good until the 2011 tornado damaged it (just enough to require a new top and new wooden rear top bow.)

  2. i did this for 24 years one thing in the video i didnt like was they removed from the bottom first the bottom corners on that back glass are much sharper angle than the top means more stress on the glass if started there i would have started at the top with the more rounded corners means less likely to stress the glass. also easyer to hang on to the back glass if working by yourself. one thing no one has talked about was in what order or which part of the rubber goes on first and why will this matter ill tell you why it matters. when putting the rubber on the glass start by putting the rubber on all the corners first than put the rest on that way the pressure or stretch of the rubber is the same all the way around the rubber will last longer and less pressure on the joined end. i made my windshields with shaded laminated glass and mounted them by myself it was a handfol dealing with two peaces of glass wanting to flap around hi quality suction cups made by milwakee made life much easyer but for the first timer i would recormend a helper like every thing quality of rubber right size cutting of the glass temp of the rubber proper lighting all these things can make life much easyer

  3. I see all years on here. Was only being helpful. Just wanted to make sure ppl know some cars do have pressure caps. You want pressure caps if the car ia suppose to have one. Sorry if I offended anyone by trying to be helpful. I will never get my in the click badge at the rate I'm going lol Earl

  4. I want to thank Tim for his assistance and advise over the past few days with a prolonging issue I have had. As some of you know, I purchased a new rebuilt carb and I reported how nice it seemed... well it was nice until I revved it up! I have replaced everything ignition wise (which means nothing) and it was driving me mad! Tim insisted to keep looking at the ignition. I did and nothing made sense and I told him I was going back to the fuel system. He insisted I go back to the ignition! So I took a real long hard look (in a dimly lit garage mind you) and I noticed something that caught my attention. The little screw that fastens down the condenser, distributor wire etc, was stripped the other day and I barely got it out. I replaced it with another one and I noticed it was almost touching the back side of the point assembly. So when you revved it up, it was most likely bouncing on the backside and shorting out. This was not readily noticeable. But I thought it looked questionable and I replaced it with a shorter one. All is well! Thank to Tim for not letting me change plans.. There are some pretty sharp guys on here and a wealth of knowledge. Thank you Tim!

  6. I resemble that remark! Misconscrewed is my attempt at humor. Humor is not always sensed in the written word. Then again, sometimes my humor takes some getting used to. So, if you feel putdown or insulted by something someone posted, maybe the guy is just kidding.

  8. Well..........the name of the forum is the P15-D24 forum.................with the P15 identifying Plymouths from 1946 to the "early 1949" models. And the D24 indicating Dodges of the same years. However, I think some place in the moderator's description, it mentions other older Mopars as being included. Which is great, as I think they are much the same animal in their overall makeup. And certain parts will interchange in those models. So..........don't anybody go away............. Stick around and have fun. Sometimes some of us may sound grouchy.........but we are really not. (Our wives may give a different opinion........lol)

  9. The only "good" news as a result of the tornado is -- now the Plymouth has it's own garage. Does not have to share in the attached garage.

  10. I cannot open your photo for some unknown reason. But if your radiator has this button at the top of the upper tank this is the vent to the atmosphere.

  11. Yes...........the car was at my son in law's house for about 3 years while he worked on it, and that work was slowed by his open heart surgery. Then I had give and take with the top manufacturer..... they sent me several tops, none of which was quite right in some manner. So they and my trim man discussed it and they sent an unfinished version so he could make adjustments. My son in law also totally re-did the interior while he had it. Back to an original look. He re-did the trunk as well. Even without a top, it was voted by participants as second place in the convertible class at an area show in October of 2014. I don't think anyone realized there was no top..............

  12. FEF is no longer a work horse farm truck. He is now a pampered show truck, although as Mark said he is not a trailer queen/king. He does get driven (slowly). And I still suspect that he is solar powered. Todd and I had to work hard on Mark to get him to drive it in the rain. Maybe FEF won't run without a little sunshine. Merle

  13. From what I saw, Great Grandad used the truck. The boards were not, let's say, pristine.

  14. Center brake light has only one element. Without having a diagram right now I trying to discribe the set-up. Before I added the center brake light the wire from the brake switch to the input of the turn-signal switch. The rear lights are wired like trailer lights, dual element blubs, brake and signal to the bright element and the tail-lights and license plate light are wired from the light switch. I spliced the center-brake light wire into the brake light wire before the turn signal and flasher. I'm only getting a faint flash in the center brake light when the emergency flashers (both lights) are flashing. Right now I assume that since there is no current in that circuit it's just bleeding to ground.
